Frustrated. 3yr old pees during diaper changes. WWYD?

Ludicrous. A lazy mother who can't be bothered with training. No pre-school is going to accept him. Does she expect his first grade teacher to change his diaper. I would not allow play dates with a 3yr old still in a diaper!

Changing his diaper while he is standing is a great suggestion. In the bathroom and behind him. You’ll get the hang of standing diaper changes after doing a couple. It’s a great way to change older and special needs kids.

I'd say that's at least somewhat possible. Although honestly, he's a very good kid. He and his brother have been absolute sweethearts, from day 1. I'm not saying it's impossible--but judging by how he reacts, when this happens (surprised, upset, apologetic, etc) It seems unlikely.

I've never actually tried a diaper change while standing. Is it simple enough to do?

No offense OP but you seem to not have much experience with toddlers. Are you used to working with younger babies? It’s pretty common and unmessy to change a toddler while standing and face him towards the potty or toilet to use it instead of you.

No worries. Truthfully I'm not that familiar with younger LO's, no. This is actually my only my 4th family...and the first two were both on our street, and was way way less of a long-term position. They'd all been 100% potty trained, for the most part up until my current family. This current family I'm with almost 5/6 days a week.

Will definitely attempt it standing, though! I'd thought about moving the operation into their bathroom, long before...but ended up bailing on that, because of space limitations with lying him down on the ground, etc.

Ok i see. Yes please try just changing him in the bathroom from now on and close to toilet so he can try while he’s there.

In less there are special needs, grab a diaper, take the old one off, put him on the toilet and put on a new one. Done. Why do you need permission to take the child to the toilet?

Nannies are with the kid 5-6 days a week. Nanny needs to do it.
