+1 I hear you, PP. I have a masters degree in ECE and was a preschool teacher and there are certain people who think of me as an expensive babysitter.

I hate being treated like I was invisible. Employers who don't say hello to me or acknowledge that I have arrived in the morning; employers who fight with each other in front of me; employers who don't even bother to introduce me to guests with even a "oh, this is Larlo's nanny".

I hate being a nanny on nights like tonight when I can't sleep and know I have to chase a 20 month old around for 9.5 hours tomorrow in the heat. Ugh...

Same. I also agree with the other nanny about vacation. I have 2 weeks and parent think they're being oh so generous. My friends go outbid the country every other month.
One day I'll get there.

Haha who do you think you are? Everybody drops something from time to time. Why would you need to be on your hands and knees?

What did some of you expect your job to involve?

Please stop. Everyone in every profession dislikes something about their job. In just this one thread, please let the nannies speak freely.

What do your friends do for a living that that they get to travel internationally every other month? Are they Instagram stars?

I love my job and my charges.

What I hate is being disrespected by parents.

Being paid late ... When they're late and don't even apologize.

Honestly the only thing I hate about being a nanny is when the parent is late. I plan our day around having the kids clean, house picked up and do reading time before quitting time and when the parents are late, my charges get restless and whiney. They miss their parents and don't understand why they aren't home. Plus, after ten hours, I am ready to start home, too.
I have never once been late getting to work, btw. Not once.

I LOVE grandparent visits!!! Even for weeks at a time, but there is a limit for all of us when it hits 5 weeks (that recently happened, but I still love the visits). And this is for all the families I've worked for, love all he grandparent visits!

Stop posting. All jobs have aspects that an individual can hate. Let the nannies have their thread without your comments. Please.

So as a nanny I'm not entitled to say anything I never said there aren't aspects of the job people can dislike/hate I just wondered what people had expected in the beginning? I have been in the position where the family have outlayed my responsibilities in the beginning and then they end up expecting you to do something else! My question is reasonable maybe you're just ignorant
