When do you hate being a nanny?

The single nannies I know have very active social lives and five hours a night and all weekend to spend as they wish. My BIL's nanny takes her two weeks vacation and long holidays weekends on getaways with her friends and family.

I hate being at the park & hearing other Nannies boast at how much money they make.

It always makes me feel underpaid.

First, I would never believe anyone who was publicly disclosing her hourly rate!

Second, do you have the education and experience to command a higher rate? If no - get both the education and experience. If yes - get another job.

I'm a SAHM now. I remember I didn't like working for clueless families who used too much tv or feed the children all processed food. They didn't have ANY fresh foods. It was all gerber meals. Both families were doctors and very well off. It's baffling how stupid people can be. Babies don't need to be strapped in the high chair for hours watching tv. They need to be learning by interacting with you. I remember offering to cook fresh foods for my charges but the moms told me not to bother. They would give food in cans. I'm not talking about baby foods in jars either. This continued until they were preschoolers. I fine with a little tv and some processed food now that I am a SAHM. I didn't make my own baby food etc. Hours of tv and no fresh foods is bad parenting. I was a live in nanny so I knew what they ate when I was off work.

I’m a nanny and mums parenting style is very kind and gentle. But I feel that is why her b3 is so difficult.

I truly dislike when I get to work for the week on mornings
When i enter the house you need a map and the kitchen
Oh my goodness family dinner pot pan all dishes sink full
The hurtful part is when they come home in the evening the house always

Only clean up after you and children while you ate on duty. Stop letting them walk all over you.

Sorry to jump in since I'm not a nanny, but yikes. I have a PhD from the second ranked university in the world. I don't mind wiping the floor, cleaning the bathroom, etc. It's necessary for the bigger goals I have, i.e. it's a matter of context.

What I hate is having the nanny think of me as competition when we should be one team, working together in a loving but also organized and disciplined way to raise a child to be a good person and eventually a contributing member of society.

Being paid late ... When they're late and don't even apologize.

Check out you local labor laws as some jurisdictions impose fines for paying late. The first time they were late you should have told them that you would quit if it ever happened again. FWIW, this is a valid reason for quitting and collecting unemployment. You can also report them to local labor office and Sue them in Small claims court.

Many 13-14mo are down to one nap. However, you may need to move the nap (and lunch) earlier.
