I am the same age as your nanny. I stated driving my charge around in my boss' car, 2 or 3 months after passing my test, but it was my boss' idea not mine. We don't go very far and since the car is not always available, we don't got out in the car too often either. I am still learning, but I'm comfortable in traffic and a very cautious driver. We haven't had a single incident. The driving test is incredibly basic, and passing it does not mean the person is a competent driver. I'd ask her to practice, with your car and without your child, if she doesn't own a car. After some time you should do a drive test and really watch her driving. |
Being a good nanny, doesn't make her a good driver! |
Key word is trust.. when I was 16, I drove to the mall with my instructor.. I drove to Gaithersburg, MD. Which is 40min away. Not every 16 year old acts like a fool. She is 26, OP said they trust her. So she should be able to drive. |
