It's a troll post, an excellent nanny of 18 years wouldn't have settled for such a weak benefits package. |
Bull. Go to local wage/labor office and see What they can do for You. Apply for unemployment. I would take them to small claims court for breach of contract but then I'm a bitch. |
Please let us know if you hear of anyone who has won a similar case. |
I am not a troll post! I am from another country, and again have never dealt with this kind of thing. All of my previous employers always treated me fairly, and if they did not need me they usually would tell me way ahead of time like 2 or 3 months. So I had no reason to think this lady would be any different. I am 2 years away from retiring and had hoped this family would be my last one, but it is ok. I think it is like what one earlier replier said, she changed her mind because she realized how much more it cost to have a nanny instead of daycare and was just being immature about how to handle the situation.
I will ask my daughters to help file a suit in small claims court, and hopefully at least get my vacation days and 2 weeks notice. Thank you. Wronged Nanny. |
We are so glad to hear you are retiring. Thank you. Happy MB. |
You can usually email employment attorneys for free advice on whether you have a case or not. But keep in mind if you sue, that's a public record that future employers may see if they do a search on you. If you're close to retirement this may not matter but otherwise it may hinder future employment opportunities. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. |
One part that went over my head....it is interesting that MB encouraged you somewhat to file for unemployment benefits.
Why would she do that....???? Btw you are being screwed over big time. Go do research first before filing papers at small claims court. Find out if nanny contracts are legal, if precedent has already been set. I personally have never heard of someone prevailing in a court of law over a nanny contract. Good luck! ![]() |
They aren't. |
Because a potential employer would be afraid of a nanny who stood up for herself. Or she can go for the pushover nanny. ![]() |
I too would avoid a nanny who thinks our contract is gospel. It's just an agreement, not some binding pact to be stuck together forever. The family fired her, she wasn't a suitable nanny, she should move on. She thinks because she has had for 18 years what for most people is a temporary stepping stone to a real career that she holds all the cards and can sue her employer for firing her. She really just needs to let it go. |
"Wronged Nanny"...jesus, this site is just ridiculous. I used to come here for advice and to share experience; this is just no longer the case. Lately, it is nothing but these "wronged nanny" threads looking to bash any NF that doesn't give free reign to the nanny to do whatever they want, whenever they want to (including taking vacation) and are cheap losers if they expect to pay any less than $30/hr for the privileged.
The immaturity and entitlement of nannies here is just embarrassing... |
Because the MB in question isn't mad and isn't a bitch. She can't afford a nanny, and she let OP go for that reason. She knows it's not for cause, and she was reminding OP that she was eligible for UI. |
Let's be honest here. Hourly wages of 30+ per hour is towards the higher end of the scale. Few parents need that level of expertise, or can afford it. But stop being so angry with those parents who want it and can afford it. You come off as a jealous little tween begrudging your more wealthy classmates who can afford more than your family can. |
Can you actually read? Or do you just hone in on literally one line of a post and respond with whatever you'd like, regardless of relevance? |
I honestly think it is one to two bored, unemployed trolls who nannied once in their life. The crap grammar of these nonsense posts is always bad in the exact same way--so is the butthurt. sooooo stupid, sooooo entitled....i think 90% are made up just because this is the only place they can get interaction in their lives besides their cats. |
