What I find annoying about care dot com is the fill in the blanks comments options that parents sometimes use. Like: "Must love kids." "Please be a fan of outdoor activities." " Animal lovers please apply (we have pets)." " Bonus points if you're interested in music or the dramatic arts." "Some light housekeeping is required."
What does all that stuff really mean to the parents? I have never won a Grammy award, and I have never competed in the Olympics. |
Since most of us know there's no known so-called market rate for babysitters (or any of the domestic workers for that matter), people like you can always find desperate workers for $1/hr. In your book it's legal. |

Are you considering creating your own childcare website?
That would be awesome. Something that always bothered me about Care.com & Sittercity.com is that ANYONE w/access to a computer and the Internet can post a free profile thus labeling themselves a "Professional" Nanny. I think there should be some form of checks + balances involved here. To think that parents are more than willing to pay for this makes no sense. I have never understood the logic here. |
It's a scam for overburdened parents. |

Wow, OP here. Thank you so much for the people who had constructive and helpful things to say.
I appreciate it!
