The mom texted me last night and this morning asking what route we took and gave some new story of how much the fare cost ( she said $20). I told her I would pay for it. I'm honestly a little turned off by this. I don't think she should of be hounding me about it. It worries me about future payments and if and if she will make a fuss about that as well. I know some people penny pinch but texting me at 3am is a little ridiculous to me. It's kind of put me off.

This makes no sense. If you used the Uber on her account, she would receive an email showing the exact route you took. Or she can log into her account and do the same.

Not a troll but thanks for the input. Go get a life.

This MB is just so weird. It makes me nervous to start working for them.

You make me nervous considering working with children so please do inform MB that you will have to back out of your agreement and let them go ahead and find a competent nanny.

How am I in contempt to do my job and work with children? MB going crazy on me about $15 has no reflection on my competency or work. Stop trying to start stuff. Go get a life.

Anonymous wrote:I disagree with PP. That's super lame of your employer. You should NOT have to pay for your ride home. I either wouldn't work for them again, or make sure it's clear that she will be paying for the ride. Especially with weekend surge prices, the fare can sometimes be more than expected. That's really lame of her.

I start my nanny job with them this week. I'm worried now if she will penny pinch about my paycheck as well.

Do NOT start until you give her a WRITTEN agreement and she signs and returns it to you. BOTH parents MUST sign it. But based on the RED flag, I'd be prepared for her to be a problem, so BEWARE.

Yes, as always, the employee holds all the cards. I am sure this will go over great.

Agree. Or you'll be sorry.

If you think that, report and it'll be deleted.

Need I say more?

Sit your little butt down. I've been a nanny longer than you've been born, honey. Go get a job and life instead of trying to correct someone on a forum. I bet you wouldn't act so tough if you weren't behind your keyboard.

I think that this is a fail on both your parts. I also think it probably just means that you and the family need to talk more about expectations. If you need a family to provide you with transportation after a certain hour, you should say so when accepting the gig. They also should have just paid it this time, and made a note to themselves to talk to you about it for the future, or to hire someone else in the future if they didn't want to pay cab fare.

OP here. I was going to get home myself but the offered to get me an uber. I did not ask or expect it.

You have every right to be turned off by her behavior! Who wouldn't be??!

This may be a red flag into just how cheap she is overall.

When they offered, did you say, "oh no, I already have a ride!" Or did you say, "Thank you!" assuming that they meant they would pay for it, when apparently what they meant was they would arrange it, but you would pay for it?

Again, it sounds like they expected you to provide your own transportation, but then you thought they were treating you to a ride home (which they weren't). I don't know that I would call this "cheap," but I do think that you need to be up front about what happened before you agree to sit for them again.

OP here. They offered to get me an Uber ( they pay for it), I declined. They insisted and DB said he didn't feel comfortable letting me leave so late unless they could get me an Uber. He said it proper etiquette to pay for someone ride home after working such a late night. I cleared things up with MB. She was drunk that night and made a mistake. She was embarrassed and apologized this morning. Btw, I do not expect them to pay but most families get an Uber for late nights. I live in Chicago, which isn't too safe walking around late at night, especially being a woman.

You sound really difficult to deal with.
