My new employers are so cheap!

I date night sat for my new employer last night. They got me an Uber home since it was 2am. The fare was $18. The mom texted me last night and this morning asking what route we took and gave some new story of how much the fare cost ( she said $20). I told her I would pay for it. I'm honestly a little turned off by this. I don't think she should of be hounding me about it. It worries me about future payments and if and if she will make a fuss about that as well. I know some people penny pinch but texting me at 3am is a little ridiculous to me. It's kind of put me off.

Personally I think you are overreacting a bit. She texted you when you got home so it's not like she was waking you up. I mean sure, if you want to let this sour your new job, go ahead. Id just brush it off

I disagree with PP. That's super lame of your employer. You should NOT have to pay for your ride home. I either wouldn't work for them again, or make sure it's clear that she will be paying for the ride. Especially with weekend surge prices, the fare can sometimes be more than expected. That's really lame of her.

She texted me like 5 times between 2 and 3:30am. Then 7 texts at 8am. I don't thinks I'm overreacting. I was in bed and kept waking up because of her incoming texts.

Do NOT start until you give her a WRITTEN agreement and she signs and returns it to you. BOTH parents MUST sign it. But based on the RED flag, I'd be prepared for her to be a problem, so BEWARE.

Oh man, you're starting a nannying gig with her? I think she has major boundary issues and will definitely nickel and dime you. Do you have a contract with EVERYTHING spelled out? Vacation, sick days, guaranteed hours, reimbursements, etc? If you can swing it, I'd seriously consider skipping this job.

This makes no sense. If you used the Uber on her account, she would receive an email showing the exact route you took. Or she can log into her account and do the same.
