We've given one raise in the 3 years she's been with us. I'm in upper Nw and don't know anyone who pays that much for 1 child unless it's for a combo nanny/housekeeper/cook.

Do you want to keep a happy nanny or not?

Nope, realist here. 1. Nanny will be unhappy and need to be replaced. or 2. Nanny will quit thinking that you aren't happy with performance and she needs to quit before you fire her. Either way, the question stands.

Slave drivers don't care about things.

I really admire the commitment of certain nanny posters to stoking salary increases in the area with vague threats and guilt. I bet you've helped more than one area nanny get a raise and bigger bonus. Especially if BM/BD reading isn't sensitive to feeling extorted.

I would wait until your two year anniversary is near (sounds like that's within a few weeks right?)

Then ask if you can schedule a time to touch base. "As we are nearing my two year anniversary I just want to touch base about your overall thoughts on my performance, maybe setting some goals for this year for Janie, etc..."

Then if your employers don't discuss performance and raise you can bring it up directly at that point.

Is that what you do with your employer?

Essentially, yes.

But not really. Ha!
