That is a huge hourly wage PP.

You must have to do the child's laundry, load/unload the dishwasher as well as sterilize all baby toys during nap time.
BIH !!

I make 12-15+ per hour as a live-in nanny. Less than 2 years references, no college degree, no college courses relevant. If you're only getting $10/hour, why? What are your job responsibilities, how many kids are you comfortable caring for, and of what ages? How many hours do you work? Do you go through an agency and just settle for the families they find, or do you find families yourself?

It is not your damn business to know the following what you listed, tell me one thing ur intitled to besides getting upset?

Excuse me, but I was responding to the PP who said that she thought $10/hour was the standard for live-in nannies. I disagree, so I asked for more information to see if I could offer an alternative way to present herself. With 15 years of experience, it shouldn't matter whether she's live-in or live-out, $10/hour is too low.
Scam artist is this your extra part-time job sitting and typing make other people life miserable go for it you will be revealed soon the PP you help P.S we absolutely know Who you are !our good helper you've been flog we got your clues they are working on it I do not think tank you should sit down and do what you do for no reason

Hmmm. I'm between positions, what's the issue? If Jeff checks, he could see when I have posted and when I haven't. I'm not worried, either way.

Why would less than $15/hour be so unreasonable? All of the daycare workers at the three centers we have used all make less than this per hour. They have many more kids and lots of rules. Why does the childcare price go up so much just because you are called a nanny?

You need to learn the difference between a sitter and a nanny.

A daycare worker isn't a sitter. Sitters can make decisions without checking with someone else; daycare workers are usually more likely to educate the child. A nanny combines all of the best, and so commands a higher salary.

Sure. As a base hourly rate, but then there is the overtime and time and a half.

And if you divide the weekly salary by the total number of hours then it's well over the $15/hr mark.

And that is a competitive salary.

Don't be ridiculous. Newbie illegals get $15/hr. So no, that's certainly not a competitive rate.

I've hired two nannies, in lower Montgomery County, over the past 5 years. Both were citizens, fully legal, and experienced. Both were hired essentially at these rates.

Certainly I could have spent far more, but our first nanny was fantastic and stayed with us for 3 1/2 years. Our second nanny has been with us almost a year and I expect she'll be with us until our kids are in full-time school. She is also terrific, and happy with her position and compensation.

Both times I had to search I had lots of qualified applicants, all of whom were - at minimum - legal to work in the US, and most of whom were citizens.

So I have not needed to pay more to get the level of legal, experienced, loving, trustworthy, collaborative care we want for our kids.

I'm a nanny in the Midwest. I started nannying for $12/hr. After graduating college, I upped my rate to $15/hr. Now I earn $22/hr for two children. I speak two languages fluently, and teach them music (piano, voice) as well. Most nannies in my area earn $12-15/hr, as far as I know.
