OP here. My religion doesn't actually teach thos things. They are not doctirne, but on a venn diagram of "members of X religion" and "homophobic whack jobs" there would be a lot of overlap. Those aren't my beliefs, but if you are only casually familiar with my religion, you might assume they were. I'm not sure how to respond to the troll accusations; I can't prove this to you.

If you have that many members of "your religion" that are homophobic then it must come from somewhere. I just don't get why you want to be part of a group like that.

Perhaps this couple has had certain bad experiences prior with people of your religion and are just assuming at this point that you must share their beliefs as well.

I can see your side as well. If it is okay w/your MomBoss to disclose what she told you, you can always send a brief but friendly e-mail to them letting them know that your MomBoss told you about the conversation that they had and that you wanted to address their concerns about your religious beliefs about gay marriage. Let them know that is one aspect of your religion that you do not agree on and that you would still love to work for their family if they would still like to have you.

If after that e-mail you do not get a response, then you did your very best and they just don't understand your logic.

I would then move on to another family and be done.

I'm not gay and j wouldn't want a Mormon (I'm guessing...) looking after my kids either, so yeah. If you want to hang out with people with messed up beliefs (even if you don't share those beliefs) then that's the price youre going to pay.

Mormon was my only thought too. I also wouldn't hire a Mormon, same with a Scientologist, a Jehovah's Witness, etc.

Mormons SAY they don't drink, do drugs or have sex (no one smokes anymore) - very different than actually not drinking, doing drugs and having sex.

We have an atheist as a nanny who doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs or eat meat. She is married so I assume she is having sex. You don't have to go with a Mormon to get a nanny with clean living values who doesn't engage in organized bigotry.

It's like saying all gay people are pedophiles or all Muslims are murderers or all Jews are tight wads. It is one thing to be raised in a bigoted church and another to continue to belong to that church after you become an adult.

I would not want anyone still practicing their faith in a bigoted church to care for my children either and I am straight. I am certain a gay couple would have major issues with it.

Mormons don't believe gay people are going hell. They may not agree with the gay marriage and there may be some people in that church who are vocal about it but there's an equally vocal number who march in pride parades and work toward equality. sorry troll, but I won't hire a nanny who is part of a religion the spreads hate. Why do you think Prop 8 originally failed in California? Yeah that would be the big Mormon church and all those assholes who spread hate and contributed $$ to a campaign of hatred.
