Can current family afford a small increase?
You said they're paying you the "average" wage. Are you only an "average" nanny? |
| Go to the interview, see if you are offered the job then counter with your new employers.explain your situation and see if they can afford a pay increase, otherwise move on. This is a job. You work for money to pay for an education that will get you a better paying job.take care of you. |
| You're a student - do you have time to work more hours? |
|
It's only been a couple weeks, take the job with the extra $900 a month! Give them notice, at least two weeks, then go. It's hard because you're dealing with a child but at the end of the day it is a job, and if this were any other profession no doubt that any of us would make the move to a higher paying job.
I would even be direct and just tell them what you told us, that you have to pay for school, and they should understand. I'm sure they would do the same in order to provide for themselves and their family. Don't stay at a job you've only had for 2 weeks out of guilt, they will find someobe else. Good luck OP let us know how it goes! |

I'm OP. I decided to turn down the interview. The more money is great but it would also be up to 60 hour weeks. That is way more than I want to work. I've worked in a situation where the parents were horrible but pay was good. No amount of money is worth working in a bad environment.
I have decided to turn it down because it is also wrong to do. They money I make now isn't bad at all. They are paying what I requested. These people just happen to be paying over market rate. |
+100 I always worry about karma. I try and treat others how I would like to be treated. What if your nf interviewed a wonderful nanny who was 900 a month cheaper and told you sorry we are going to fire you for her she is cheaper. |
Well now. Are they paying average or above average? Try to get your story straight, troll. |
Get my story straight? You need to learn to read. I stated twice that my current family is paying me the average rate which is normal for my area. These other people are paying above market rate for my area. I don't understand how you didn't get that. Get some glasses and a life and stop trying to stir things up. That's pathetic. |
