So basically, they told you the truth that their family needs were changing. Big deal. They don't need you anymore.

Start looking for a job now and take a good offer and leave them behind.

Or, wait until they fire you, collect severance and maybe unemployment, and look for a new job.

Either way, you need a new job. Stop making yourself sick over it. This happens every day. Deal with it and start searching.


Yes they told her the truth but when she said that she can't have cut hours, they told her that they would work it out...in reality..they've just been searching to replace her when it works for them instead of being honest with her upfront.

Whatever. Doesn't change a thing. OP needs to get a new job. The only issue is how quickly she needs to do it and what she might score from the family as she leaves.

I would have a really tough time keeping my mouth shut and acting like I knew nothing.

I think you should let your MB know what you know and call her out on it.

Ask her if it is true and if so, what are her reasons for doing so. Do you feel that she is justified??

Also, do you think both of you can work things out together and come to a resolution so that you can keep your job?

Right now it's just buying time and letting then fire me. If I quit, it looks bad all around. If they fire me, I am hopeful that they will lie some more and play nice and be a reference. I know I did my job amazingly. They're not firing me because I am a crappy nanny, they're firing me because their needs have changed which is valid. They should have however, handled it much more professionally.

Yes she can and the cretins she is working for will be in a boatload of trouble with local labor office and IRS, which they deserve. People who pay illegally should go prosecuted, convicted, and serve significant time.

I am being paid legally, I am so bent out of shape about it because I am losing my job! We also do not have a contract so they ca fire me whenever they please.
