First off thanks for all the great work you do.

Our nanny is great! She has been with our family for 1.5 year.
Her children are grown and all over the world. She loves our kids and has become part of our family...she is more a mother to me then my own.

I would like to do something nice for her.

She doesn't like days off bc she has no family around.

Last year we got her a piece of jewelry, went to dinner, cake and card.

Any thoughts on what you would appreciate.

I was thinking about canceling my office, coming home to tend to the babies and send her to the spa.

How much are you going to give her for the spa? IMO, you can't really go to a spa and spend less than $200. That's a lot to spend on a birthday gift for your nanny.

Maybe her nanny is worth more to her, than any dollar amount. I've received more than that as a birthday present from different clients, and I'm still considered a part of the family to this day. Let her spend her money, in the manner she sees fit. I count no one's money but my own.

I have had families that were extremely generous at birthday time, and others who couldn't even remember when my birthday was.
I think it is great that you want to treat her to a spa day. Don't listen to those who think you are giving her too much. If she does a great job and you want to show your appreciation, then go for it.

Spa day was a big hit: mani/pedi/massage.
We also framed a picture of her and the babes...she cried.
Kids drew pics.

Thanks for input everyone!

SHE IS LUCKY TO HAVE YOU!
Cash is always welcome and sending her home earlier is also very nice.
