] Of course you should be vigilant about experience and references. These are your children for crying out loud. You should want some one who has experience with multiples. Even with the oldest one going to preschool, it's still a hectic position with long hours. It's definitely a position where someone could get burnt out easily.

I think you misunderstood my response. I was asking if I should come up with a different plan.

OP where are you located? That affects things.

OP will be hard pressed to find a capable nanny in any town for any price.

I'm not so sure I would out-source a job like this.

Those of you saying this is an easy job, simply haven't done it.

Yes, here is another nanny worth 900 a week. She can take on a great resposblety but can't spell.

Edit: I forgot to calculate OT, $935/wk.

Hi, I'm interested in the position if you're still looking. Not sure where you're located but I'm a great nanny with a great amount of experince, excellent references and reliable. I don't believe in overcharging people and I'm still a great nanny, so I'd gladly do it for the amount you're offering. If you're interested please email me.

When you advertise you should seek a nanny who has worked with multiples or shares. With a $925 a week starting salary every nanny will be drooling to get the job and not consider whether they can actually handle the job.

+1. You will find lots of good options at this rate if you plan to guarantee $925 per week for 52 weeks a year. There just aren't many nanny jobs in DC with that kind of earning potential, so people will jump at it. Also, it is very common for jobs that offer significant OT and time and half to pay a base rate on the low end of the applicable range.

Be sure to mention in the ad that your 2.5 year old will be in preschool, so it will only be twins much of the time. $15-17 is a pretty standard starting rate for twins in DC.

If your budget is $4100 a month including taxes and health insurance you need to lower your rate. $925 a week eats up almost all of your budget before your share of taxes or health insurance.

$20+ for someone qualified, and likely more like $22.

If you take someone with little experience then $17 may be fine.

If she lowers the rate she will not find someone prepared to handle what she's asking for. Less than $17/hour for 3 kids is NOT a rate that attracts the more skilled nannies. There are tons of 50 hour jobs in the DC area paying a market rate, so yeah $925/week isn't as hard to find as you think for a nanny with a great job history and background. There are 50 hour nanny shares all over the area offering $18+OT. $17 will get you someone OP, especially if you're contributing to health care, but the person may require some grooming or she may be exceptional but young and needs someone to give her a chance. Keep an open mind.

List it for 900 for 50 hrs a week (do not list hourly rate) and see what you get. I think you will find someone you are happy with unless perhaps you are in NWDC where rates peak. It is an avg rate of 18 per hour and as you note your oldest will be in preschools soon so for good chunks of the time it is only 2 kids and they are already past the worst point (infants) for twins.

I'm a nanny to twin 4 1/2 month olds and a 2 1/2 year old. I make $22/hr.
