"Baby nurse" doesn't refer to an actual RN. She's simply who you hire for a newborn, as she's very experienced with them. How many sets of multiples have you worked with? |

I work with school-age children and frankly, I wouldn't want them to do it during the week. The parents are never home and the kids are over-scheduled. As it is, the kids barely ge their homework done each night. |
What daily household chores do they have? |
| When you hire a professional to help with your child, you can take advantage of her knowledge/experience, and learn some very useful things. |
Depends on the family. I'm willing to do everything up to full housekeeping, providing that they pay for it, and that it's only while kids are in school. During breaks and summers, the kids do the housework with me, and a portion gets left for the parents to do. |
There's nothing like solid healthy boundaries. Kudos to you. What a lucky family to have you as an excellent example for their children. I hope you're well-compensated for your expertise. |

Most people can't manage the work on a professional level. |
| If you get paid that, great. That just means that anyone making 120k will just about break even after paying the nanny. Accounting for emotional rewards of taking care of you baby, most moms making less than 170k will probably not choose to work. Sure, insist on these rates. About 80% of newborn nanny jobs just disappeared into thin air for you. * Blip.* |
| You're free to make that the rate you charge. You're not entitled to a job, however, so it's up to you to find a job at a rate you're willing to accept - because nannies compete in the market place for their jobs, just like the rest of us. We don't sit at home and invent our salaries. If you can find a job at this rate, kuddos to you! If not, reality will speak for itself and 9 pages of debate on a forum won't change that. |
Newborn caregivers are for the rich, not the wannabe rich. Btw, your baby isn't a newborn for a whole year, hon. |
| Newborn and infant care requires much more knowledge and experience than the care of an older child. |

OP and her ilk are full of shit.
I make a flat 62k/yr caring for triplets. This is the very high end for nanny rates. I'm college educated and was born in the US. My rate is not the norm and is high. When this job is over, I'd be a FOOL to think it will be easy to find another nanny job that pays as well. This kind of nanny pay is few and far between. Carry on with the bullshit. |
