I am a nanny with newborn experience. I'd like to know how OP plans to charge for toddler stage and beyond. The extra dollar per hour is in line with the market and fine by me. |
Each nanny must determine her own rates based on her experience and market demand for her individual skills. |
This. If a nanny overestimates, she won't receive employment offers. It's important for a nanny to research carefully her market and to sell any specific skills or qualifications if she believes she is worth an above average rate. |
+10000000000 you rock! Love the last line of your post! |
| I know several people with nannies. No one pays $20/hr or more for their nannies. The going rate for a baby nurse is $20/hr. For a nanny, it's closer to $15-18/hr. |
I shouldn't say no one. I'm sure the PP who makes $30/hr is real. She probably is also highly qualified- my guess is that she's college-educated and helps the kids with homework, among other tasks your typical nanny doesn't handle. |
Thank you. |

Nannies why stop at $52 an hour, why not post back and forth that you all make $75/hr or $200/hr or $1000/hr?
The 1-2 nanny posters claiming ridiculous rates can go back and forth with each other agreeing how appropriate and "real" it is to be paid $75/hr or $200/hr for being a babysitter. You can enjoy it and then wake back up from your daydream to your $10/hr job. |

Why is it so hard for some of you to get it through your thick heads that there are nannies out there making $30 (or even more) an hour? Certainly not everyone, but there are jobs out there that pay that. I'm currently caring for infant triplets and get paid $30/hour! I also have a Master's degree, CPR/First Aid, a lot of experience, excellent long term references, etc...
To the person who said baby nurses make $20/hr. I know a a lot of baby nurses and they all typically make more than $20/hr, especially if they are working at night. |
|
These endless debates are so tiresome. If you're caring for infant triplets you ought to be making a premium rate for heaven's sake!
But that simply isn't the norm. |
PP, I don't think anyone has said that they do not think any nannies ever make more than $20 an hour, only that they disagree with the implication that anyone who calls themselves a nanny should demand at least $25 an hour. Can we all agree that if you are a nanny of infant triplets and you have a Master's degree, CPR/first aid certification, lots of experience, and excellent long-term references, that you SHOULD be making AT LEAST $30 an hour? |
No one said 30/hr should be the norm for babysitting your kid. |
Why did you waste thousands of dollars getting a Master's degree when you're a nanny? I understand a Bachelor's degree, but assuming you took on student loans to get the Master's degree, it seems incredibly silly to not use it. |
Assuming = Ass You don't need to understand anything. |
|
Very few nannies make over $20/hr. They are not at all significant to area market rates. They only post here to brag or to lie to parents and make them think their rate is the average.
Ignore them. |
