It was interesting and new and different for its time.

I think it holds up well for what it was. But I also still LOVE Friends.

Not everything has to be super-deep -- TV didn't take itself that seriously back then!

I watched some episodes of SATC way back when, and although I am the most low maintenance tomboyish cisgender woman imaginable, I was oddly fascinated by the quartet of shallow insipid women. Total escape from the things I actually value in life, I guess?

Anyway I never saw the movies but heard they were pretty painful, and I can’t imagine the reboot minus Kim Cattrall and Chris Noth will be any good at all. As shallow and insipid as the characters were 20 years ago, imagine them in their 60s? I think it will be gross.

And now they’re making a remake, so it’s a good time to discuss.

A remake without Kim Cattrall. Apparently because she hates other people on the show.

Also Michael Patrick King was the head writer and show runner and he’s a gay man, if that affects any arguments above.

I am not OP and don't even care that much about this subject, but sometimes people want to start and have an actual conversation, not just read a year-old post on the subject. It's more understandable when you see repeated threads about a clear question with a definitive answer that has been covered before, but when people are just musing about stuff they are thinking about, it's okay for them to want to talk to people in something resembling real time.

Of course all these years later, we cringe a little. At the time, you can't deny that it was progressive and well loved. Oddly, dad and I would catch up on what we considered hilarious episodes. This was the best. Sometimes he'd leave a message and it always went like this, Hi babe, let your mother know you're safely back (from whatever biz trip), and don't forget to record SATC tonight. I leave it on loop sometimes. It was a cult comfort show.

Running a search must be hard for that snotty poster. Seems they are pissed Bc it’s easy to prove there isn’t an original idea when it comes to disliking Sex and the City.

Same! Everyone loves him and how "sweet" he is; I think he realized that Miranda could provide for him while he loafed around, so he wasn't completely stupid.
