It's also interesting because republicans are the sane ones in this argument. I dont agree at all with making fun of or degrading trans people but their rights should not impede on girls and women's rights to private spaces and a level playing field in sports competition.
Changing the definition of women centered language to accommodate transwomen is absolutely silly. The fact that some are actually taking it seriously enough to use words like "chestfeeding" and "uterus owner" is just... laughable. I hope that nonsense doesnt take hold in the US. I mean really. |

As a lesbian, I am unequivocally opposed to it because it has nothing to do with extending rights to LGBT people and everything to do with undermining the basis of women’s civil rights in the US and protections from sex-discrimination. Last June in its Bostock decision, SCOTUS held that LGBT people were protected from discrimination under currently existing federal civil rights law...so, there’s precisely no reason to redefine sex as gender identity unless the entire point is undermine women’s sex-based rights. The Equality Act is the most extreme example of prioritizing the validation of men’s ego [self-concept/personal identity] at any cost to women and girls. There are over 200,000 women incarcerated in the US [80% non-violent offenders], many who are old and disabled that would be forced to house with prolific serial rapists based on his claims to have a woman gender identity (wtf does that even mean anyway?). If passed, elderly and sick women would no longer be guaranteed a female caretaker but one with a feminine gender identity who could very well be male. | I think the challenge here is that redefining "woman" from biological sex to gender identity has multiple social consequences that are not being thought through. Some say this is just science, but that's not true. This particular scientific issue is well beyond academic debate and has turned into a moral crusade of true believes. Like other crusades, it has victims who don't count, they are simply in the way of capturing Jerusalem. We need to make those people count before we can go foward. |

Sorry. No offense intended. Party of the problem with this debate is that word definitions are themselves up for debate so that it's hard to say something in neutral terms. Is biological women better? |

Good. And it doesn’t matter if at this point in time there are zero trans kids playing sports. If they want to play in competitive sports protected by Title IX, they need to do so by their sex. No one is saying they can’t play, but they can’t chose which sex based segregated sport they participate in. |

Please point out where I stated they should be banned from sports. Sex segregated sports happened for a reason and stating this fact isn’t bullying anyone. It’s just a fact. |

this is horrible but- the truth is that trans individual are TRANS- there isn't a binary, there are 6 different sexes, its just that the majority of people fall along the male/female binary. Trans people need to have their own special sports league just like people who are differently abled have their own sports leagues, a kid in a wheelchair plays basketball on a competitive level with others in chars and the are rules for what they can or cannot do to enhance playing ability. Transwomen and transmen should be allowed their own designation and be protected within it as minority group. many cultures, including my own have always had 3 genders.we need to adapt the same thinking and trash the m/f binary and protect the rights of both transmen, trans women and women |
