I just don’t understand this. It is taking a step back in terms of gender equality. How can people not think men will claim they are women to take advantage in situations? (Ex: male prisoners transferring). In fact what heterosexual male wouldn’t transfer to a women’s prison? And there are definitely men that would use the women’s locker room. These are spaces reserved for women for a reason. And now if you need help from a rape crisis center you get to speak to a male counselor? Because that male’s right to present as female trumps your right to a safe space as a woman. It’s nonsense.

California passed the SB 132 bill which now allows inmates to self ID as women, trans, non-binary, or inter-sex and to then be housed in the prison category of their choice. Moreover, this legislation now rejects the need for inmates to undergo SRS at all. The demand has been high, with 261 requests for transfers since SB 132 took effect Jan. 1, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

I don’t know how anyone can support this “equality” act while simultaneously claiming to care about women’s rights and their safety.

Yes I think that is a fair compromise. I can’t imagine many trans men would want to be housed with the male inmates. They would be at high risk for sexual assault.

Probably both trans men and trans women would be at higher risk of assault in men’s prisons, for different reasons.

We have to be realistic when it comes to the risk of allowing trans women prisoners into female only prisons. They are in prison for a reason with some being convicted of violent crimes including sexual assault, murder and pedophilia. I’m not saying everyone of them would assault a woman in prison but how are female prisoners suppose to know which ones are the dangerous ones. It’s not fair to put women in that situation, being fearful of rape and assault. Not to mention male prisoners who will take advantage of this just for the opportunity to be in a female prison.

Take a look at the following trans women who have been convicted of a variety of crimes and ask yourself if you think it is ok for these people to be housed with females. Do you honestly believe the rights and safety of female prisoners being upheld if these criminals are allowed to share a space with them?

I've concluded that people like PP are hopeless. This will go to SCOTUS and if conservatives are still in charge there, they will say it violates Title IX. I'm not a conservative, but they are right about this issue and liberal leaders are out to lunch.

Speaking as a millennial lifelong Democrat, I’m thrilled the Equality Act has stalled out. It was a covert attempt to legislate deeply unpopular and unscientific trans preferences. Trans people deserve sympathy for their mental challenges, but men absolutely don’t belong in women’s spaces.
