He has died.

Senator Doug Ericksen (R-Whatcom County) has died.

The Washington State Senate Republican Caucus said the senator passed away on Friday. He was 52 years old.

He leaves behind two daughters and a wife.

"We are heartbroken to share that our husband and father passed away on Friday, Dec. 17. Please keep our family in your prayers and thank you for continuing to respect our privacy in this extremely difficult time," his family said in a statement.

Last month Ericksen tested positive for COVID-19 in El Salvador.

He was taken to a hospital in Florida where it was reported that he was in stable condition and on the road to recovery.

You know, there are a lot of conservative types who have been doing missionary work for many years in Central America. I don’t know this guy’s story but that’s what I thought when I heard about him. And I know DCUM will have a good laugh at his expense but the future belongs to those who go out and engage the world, not those who sit back in comfort and call people names online.

Because they’re terrible people who like terrible things for others. It’s the in group, out group thing again. So long as Republicans are working to make life harder for others, they support them.

There are many conservative types who go to the border with guns, with the intent on exercising "stand your ground". There are also "do-gooders" (don't really know their political affiliation but a pretty good guess they are not conservatives) who leave water bottles for the migrants.

So, what was he really doing there?
