OP, can I beg of you to provide some inspiration pics or designers who have successfully refreshed 1990s era McMansions / double height living rooms and entryways?
Thank you so much for the mental vacation your posts have provided!

I did a post a while back about double-height entrances and my general feeling was that adding millwork/trim is a way to make them feel nicer. If there are round columns, I think taking them out or making them square (if they are needed for support) can help. Updating the light fixture is probably a good idea, too.

I also think there's inspiration if you look up builders/designers and real estate in areas where big homes are still common.

You could also remove a lot of the frosting and go for a cleaner look...

Hi All. Hi Eye Candy OP!

Okay, I have a dilemma creating a work from home space in my huge bedroom. I’ve tried to recreate the hotel look since most hotel rooms have a desk and sitting area somewhere in the space. I want to completely revamp my room to fit my current needs. Again my room is large so I have enough space for an office set up and sitting area. I want the space to feel luxurious.

I am open to color and love velvet. Any ideas?

Hi EyeCandyOP!
I’m looking for inspiration to update window treatments in my two story living room. Currently have really heavy silk-ish drapes with chunky hardware left behind by previous owner. Any ideas or images to share? Thank you!

Not knowing whether we are going traditional or modern, I'll share a few ideas...

Few people like vessel sinks, but these are interesting.

The company is called Superfront...I think they are somehow making panels for ikea vanities?

Oh, those two story windows! Maybe just changing to minimal hardware would be a first step?

I can't find a picture of the hardware used here, but it's a pretty room!

This is probably going to turn a lot of people off, but you could just ignore the 2nd story windows (if there are separate windows).

I would like to an example of a living room/dining room combo with two separate rugs. Trying to decide if we should get a sisal for dining table or try to coordinate another Oushak like living room.

Would also love to see blue dining room antique chairs.

It's hard to find photos...you might want to look at builder model homes, as those tend to have open plans. I don't see many open plans evident in magazines.

I don't think we get too many requests for exteriors, so this will be fun. Any thoughts on style? Colonial, Georgian, etc?

HI Eyecandy,
Looking for treatments for sliding glass doors to replace..vertical blinds..gasp! I need to help mom replace 3 sets in her FL home. Only ones she uses are in the kitchen out to lania so its high traffic. Other 2 in dining room and bedroom stay closed and she doesn't use those doors. TY!
