Many parents in SP don't even send their kids to Wilson (they go to JPDS and other privates). Shepherd is a small school, and Todd or anybody else would care more about Lafayette parents, than Shepherd parents. New North needs a strong cohort. SP to New North/Coolidge.

-Ward 4 mother.

I guess the reward or let say the punishment for SP for having worked so hard to get their school to a better place is to send their kids to a low performing school so they can start the work from the beginning again, right? Why can't your own kids be the strong cohort the New North need?

What work has Shepherd Elem done in the past 10 years to get there school to a better place?

I can't imagine a new chancellor would take that fight during his first year or two, but assuming there is a boundary review in 2023 ... it will be a battle.

This is the lead argument from our intrepid commissioner.

Mobilization is certainly underway. Towards what ends is up for interpretation...

More relevantly, the Ward 3 Ed Net is not viewed as a friendly entity here. At all.

What game are you playing posting this everywhere? It funny you keep posting about it, if I remember correctly at least one of your kids is going to wilson using the Shepherd feeder system. So now you think it is ok to kick out SES out of deal/wilson or you just don't care what happens since you kids are already going to deal/wilson? Stop being an hypocrite!

It seems like you have a personal issue. I write a blog about the happenings at our local ANC meetings. I couldn't very well ignore the topic, introduced by our ANC commissioner, that took up a large chunk of time at the most recent meeting.

And I really didn't offer any opinion about whether Shepherd should stay in the Deal feeder or not, other than suggesting that the likelihood of a change is pretty remote.

We can get together to talk about this anytime.

Mr. Alexander, thank you for all you don in the neighborhood. Keep it up!

NP here, what has Mr. Alexander done for the neighborhood? I really just curious.

Hi SP resident here. He attends all these meetings and reports back on his blog, which helps me know what is going on. I can't make most of the meetings due to work and kids' sports schedules. He also ran a great robotics club in the fall for SES/neighborhood kids. I am not sure what your problem is with his post but I find your aggressive demeanor unwarranted. Find a new hobby, please.

Plus 1 million. We all know the two parties making these comments. One has political dreams that will never come to fruition and the other poses as a neighbor although i hear he lives in NE.

Oh snap. Y'all are getting personal.

Against my better judgement, I'm posting the link to my blog post about last's night's Community Conversation here.

I was in and out of the meeting, but I think I got the gist of it. Enjoy.

Frazier O’leary is such a joke. Embarrassing that I voted for him. It was the WAPO piece that did it, and the other candidates were underwhelming. What a mess. Nice guy, zero vision.

I’m encouraged when O’Leary says he isn’t sure that the best overall choice is to have Shepherd remain in the Deal feeder pattern.

Hi Christopher,
Maybe it is time you stated your current position on this issue? You have posted before on perceived overcrowding issues at Wilson and Deal. If that it is still your position you my want to disclose that.
I was at this meeting and it seems like you only selected quotes that makes your position stronger?
Maybe it also time you disclosed you have a vested interest on this issue?
E.g. if ward 4 students leave for ward 3 that may impact your educational organization that primarily caters for ward 4 students?
Also didn’t you kids attend deal/Wilson through SES? When your neighbors are trying to do the same, why cast them as defensive?

And he taught at Coolidge so of course he thinks it’s not that bad

I thought he taught at Roosevelt.

Regardless he probably does know more about the reality of either of those schools than you do.

One quote missing from the article is that O’ leary said he will support shepherd parents regarding the feeder and he also gave tips on how SES parents should fight to stay in the feeder. Of course that didn’t make in the article.

Cardozo. Hmm, both the overcrowding and lack of diversity issues could be solved by directing some of the other Wilson feeders to Cardozo.

Agree start with ward 2 folks since Wilson is only for ward 3.

Because he was so inarticulate. He said he would support SP parents sending their kids wherever was best for their kids and he was not convinced that was Deal/Wilson. He said test scores have no meaning. He said it wasn’t his fight to fight, it was the parents” fight. Then he tells other parents in Ward 4 that SP and Lafayette should be at New North. So he has no credibility.

He is right, however, that as a State BOE member, he has zero authority or no role in how DCPS draws its boundaries. It would be inappropriate for him weigh in and lobby or dis one possible outcome over another. Read up on what the Board does. It is really limited.

Your pressure points are Kihn, Ferrebee, Bowser, Todd and Mendelsohn.
