Some of the disgusting stuff that is happening in pornography

Just because you are paid for it does not make it liberating. The VAST majority of women would not be making porn or prostituting themselves if there was another way to earn a living. Their circumstances led them to this life. I doubt any individual chooses it as a career path.

I am sure a lot of those girls have learning disabilities, and if they had been loved and cared for and instructed properly throughout their lives, they would have gone down quite different paths than that leading to the casting couch. As much as many of you object to mere high school teachers commenting on undiagnosed (by a "professional") special needs, I am sure I saw flashes of learning disability and psychological/emotional issues in some of the girls' aspects and speech (yeah, I spent some time watching some of these videos after reading about the issue). Every day, I see glimmers of the same issues in the aspects and speech of other teen girls who are loved, cared for, and will NOT end up on the "casting couch" because their home/family/life circumstances just happen to be different than those of the girls who end up on the casting couch.

I'm kind of playing with the idea of going through a lot of those casting couch videos with the intention of finding and taking clips of what I see as evidence of learning disability, then putting it all together with written explanation and editorial.

I think that would be truly, truly awesome. I would really appreciate it very much and I think that would be such a powerful video that would make a huge impact.

Obviously, and I'm sure you mean nothing depicting the sex acts themselves, since this would be a video that hopefully people could really share on all platforms

Erotica is completely misongonistic and perpetuates harmful gender-normed roles and cultural acceptance. Like porn, it should be banned, tbh.

It sounds like the real problem is the sed drive. Or people. We should ban sex and fantasy about sex. And people.

First of all, erotica comes in all different kinds. Obviously the highly misogynistic ones are inappropriate. But there's a ton of erotica written by women- and also, and this is important- with fictional women involved. I.e. you don't have to hire vulnerable, uneducated, impoverished young girls with a history of sexual abuse to act them out.

Secondly plenty of people have a normal, healthy sex drive that does not involve getting turned on by the violence and degradation of others. If you don't- perhaps you've been watching too much porn.

Serious question, not in jest. Is there?

Not really. If we entered some utopia where the porn industry was not insanely coercive and did not prey on the most vulnerable and broke women. If women were not routinely mocked and denigrated for having appeared in films. If the women in the movies got access to the profits. If there was no violence and purposeful degradation. Then sure.

But unfortunately there's about a snowball's chance in hell of those things coming together.

It's vulnerable young boys too, who are at risk of exploitation by the predators common to the gay porn industry.

Don't forget about them or leave them out of the conversation.

OP here and I completely agree. Young boys, within the gay porn genre, are often given the "female" role and subjected to humiliation, violence, etc. Absolutely awful

Sounds like she is pretty familiar with the topic though. I think that would bring attention to how these men select for vulnerable women. We can't be silent about it anymore, because the whole "it's not doing any harm, let's not get involved" thing is doing a lot of harm to the most vulnerable women.

Does being paid mean it's okay? Can I knock out a homeless man's teeth if I pay him $100 beforehand?

It is sick but they are consenting adults.

It is well-established that boundaries are routinely crossed once filming has begun. The "actors" don't stop when a woman says no, screams in pain, starts crying. If you're a woman alone in a room full of men who's objective it is to exploit you, the five hundred dollars you're making won't save you, nor does it protect you from these men's predatory natures.

Oh, honey. I promise you that you've never actually seen a real film involving abuse.

Oh, honey. I had a real problem with watching extreme porn - stopped nine months ago - and KNOW that I saw real abuse.

Well that's disgusting then, HONEY. You should be ashamed of yourself that that's what you're into. And you should be speaking on how you had to quit watching it, because that was one of OP's main points.

BTW, just because you were into some sickening, horrifying stuff that I won't even name, doesn't make this stuff any less disturbing. I'm sorry that you have been so putrified. Sucks to suck.

I was raped and sexually abused as a child. That's why I was drawn to sickening stuff.

I'm so very sorry for what you went through.

Know that many of the people in these videos have gone through the same and are essentially acting out their victimization for others' profit.

I'm really happy that you are moving past that and recognizing the patterns. Kudos to you. Sending you love and light and happiness

I don't know: what is a "hobbyist" in this context? I have many years of experience teaching high school students, so I have worked with a plethora of special needs in the approximate age group ("Casting Couch" likes the "only 18"-ish category). I do have an M. Ed., though I'm not an expert in Special Ed, only a teacher who has seen and worked with many, many kids with learning disabilities.

I'm pretty good at recognizing learning disabilities, and I've learned a lot working with counselors and IEP planning, etc. over the years.

So am I a "hobbyist"? Maybe. I don't have a doctorate. I'm not a psychiatrist.

I guess if I ever did a project like this, it would be a hobby project, probably something I did in the summer. I do see that, for my editorial to be considered reliable and credible, I'd have to involve psychiatrists, special ed...specialists, and probably a bunch of people experienced working in the porn industry. So, yeah, a true documentary would be beyond my scope, but I think it would be a good blog. I don't claim to be an expert, but if such a blog drew the right attention to the issue, that would be good, right?

Because I am 100% sure most of the girls I saw speaking at length had diagnosable learning disabilities or other conditions.

And no, I'm not talking about the actual sex acts. I actually just spent an hour or so looking at more porn for "interview" type scenarios in which girls were speaking, both as individuals and interacting with others. The most disturbing clip was the one I watched through to the end; I'm pretty sure the girl was also hearing impaired.

The comments under the videos are disgusting. I do think any male teacher who takes pleasure in viewing some of the more obviously disabled girls should be imprisoned: that is how obvious the issues are/should be.

Agreed. And sadly- and i don't watch this stuff, because it's too disturbing- but from what I have seen, often a woman's "disabilities" or hardships will be labelled. As in "deaf girls gets ****ed hard", and of course at lot of racist stuff where black or latino women are "humiliated" or "destroyed." White women, too, of course. But any perceived difficulty or hardship a woman may have is actually seized upon and used against them. And i agree with you that it's absolutely horrifying to think a number of men find this arousing and not objectionable, and this thread is proof.

I totally agree with you that the women involved probably have learning disabilities. Most of them suffered from sexual abuse, we know that based off of statistics. The learning disabilities thing adds another level of true sickness and hatred for women to the mix.

I think this is a great idea, and I don't think you would need to get permission or psychologists to necessarily carry it out. Many of the compilations I see highlighting what's going on in porn is made by everyday people (mostly women).

If you want, i have some friends high up within the feminist community who are fighting against porn- I could message some of them and throw out your idea out there, and ask them if they think you need to have the outside input or not. It very well might be something you could do on your own, and you seem like someone with experience in the field. I think it could be really impactful.
