one pound w/o the half dozen D batteries which add another pound or so. Those flashlights are badasses. I can't imagine a scrawny kid being able to swing it with the necessary momentum. I really am not sure if I could either and I played high school softball. That blow was caused by someone who knew what they were doing and did it purposefully. |
I really don't know. It's hard to imagine that if Burke did it his parents would not keep him very close. He was only 9, and I think he would've cracked easily. He testified before the grand jury. That said, he was not ruled out as a suspect after that and both parents were indicted as accessories rather than as the murderers so we don't know what the grand jury actually found. If patsy did it I don't think the husband would just play along. Why would he? If John did it I guess maybe patsy would cover for him. I have a hard time believing it was premeditated in any way. They had flights early in the morning and a cruise scheduled for later that week. Patsy was dying to show Jon Benet off for years to come. So, I think it had to have been an accident which is what all of the detectives and Fbi thought. It's clear both parents were involved in the cover up. But who delivered the blow and then who did the strangling? Those are the big questions. |
Also - the autopsy said the blow would have killed her without the strangling ultimately. But how did they know that? I wonder if she slipped right into a coma and they thought she was already dead? Anyone know what happens after a blow like that? |
I agree with you. It's also why I don't think that the flashlight was the weapon. Could a rock or a weight or something heavy (like a can of pineapple) thrown hard at her cause this type of injury? |
I've read elsewhere that the skull fracture would have eventually been fatal w/o medical attention...meaning, that there was a possibility that she could have been saved if she had been rushed to the hospital right away. |
Could the blow have been caused by her being flung into the bathroom? Did they have a porcelain tub or toilet? Was the injury to the side of her head as in her hitting her head or at the top or bottom? |
I think that the thought is that it would have been hard to push a young child who weighed less than 50 pounds into a surface hard enough to smash their skull in like that. |
If my kid was hit on the head and I didn't want anyone to get in trouble, I think I'd say she fell and hit her head or that my son did it on accident or something. I wouldn't stage some elaborate cover up: ransom note, garrote, sexual assault, etc. Also, how could one possibly do those things to their lifeless kid's body if it simply started as an accidental blow (or even intentional) to the head? Someone in that family has to be royally sick in the head.
None of it makes any sense. |
Does this mean t was on the side of her head near the orbital area? http://jonbenetramsey.pbworks.com/w/page/11682478/Head%20Injuries
|
I don't know, it's confusing. The diagrams that I've seen make it look like the fracture was at the top back of her head towards the right.
|
Does it make sense that there was this horrible injury to her head and she didn't have any bruising on her scalp? Even if there were no open wounds/cuts/abrasions on her scalp and no blood. Wouldn't her scalp have been bruised from being hit so hard.
Nothing makes sense. |
Some things say it was perimortem for the head injury maybe that explains it? |
Give it a rest, you ghouls |
This is exactly my hang up with the whole "Burke did it" theory. If he did and the parents found out, why on Earth would they go about this convoluted cover up rather than immediately seek medical attention for their daughter? Think about it- if your son got pissed and attacked his little sister and you found her unconscious (possibly even thought he killed her), what's the first thing you would do? I'd call 9-1-1. I wouldn't throw my hands up and think "well, she's already a goner. I better cover this up to protect my other kid." No way. Especially not Jon Benet, Patsy's most prized possession. Either Patsy did it by accident out of anger for wetting the bed or an intruder did it. |
An intruder did not do it, because Patsy had to have written that note. I agree with you, though, it had to have been Patsy. But - why would John cover for her? |
