Some injustices go beyond "culture" - slavery, rape, domestic abuse, etc. Even animal cruelty.

+100 I'll also add that I don't embrace child brides, genital mutilation, blood fiestas (another "great" Spanish tradition) and more.

+1000. I'd add abortion too.

Abortion has nothing to do with any of the other listed things, anti-choicer.

This is animal torture dressed up as "tradition" and it's awful. When I was in Spain, I also learned that after a bullfighter is killed both the bull and its mother are killed because she (the cow) gave birth to a killer. Honestly, my experience with bullfighting tainted my whole view of Spain.

Clueless. They spear the bull's neck to make it drop, so it is easier to drop the sword for a clean kill.

Most have terrible aim then because the spears end up all over.

Fear makes for terrible aim.

Exactly! Embracing another culture doesn't mean you have to adopt/support the violent aspects of it.

Now pass the paella!
Isn't paella usually made with seafood? Or rabbit? Or other meat? So it's ok to eat THOSE tortured animals, as long as they're on your plate, but not the bull fight? I am omnivorous, but eat very little meat and only if it comes from Whole Foods or a farmers market. If I could find a way to keep my iron up, I think I'd go vegetarian rather than risk eating an animal that lived a miserable life and died a terrible death.

True. Abortion is more like the bullfight itself, not the other listed things, in that the bull/baby has no choice but is killed anyway. The "choice" is made by the matador, not the bull.

Yes. Delicious meat and seafood. From animals that were humanely killed. Not tortured first in a ring for the amusement of others.

Unless your meat comes from Whole Foods or a farmer's market, it was not humanely killed. Sorry to be the burster of your bubble.

I buy my beef from a local farmer who grass feeds and humanely kills the cow (it's called cow pooling). I also buy sustainable seafood and free range poultry/eggs. It's not perfect I'm sure, but at least I try to eat animals that live a good life and are raised in a way that doesn't harm the environment.

Also, eating an animal provides nourishment, not entertainment from torture.

What is wrong with you, pp? A man died. He was somebody's son. And you are "glad" he was killed? SMH.

Yes, I have no sympathy. He participated in the torture of an innocent animal. Good riddance.

FWIW, I think it's really, really gross for people to say they're glad someone lost their life. No matter the situation.

If it weren't for bullfighting, these bulls would never have lived at all. The end of bullfighting would mean the end of the Lidia breed of bull, as it is not the type of beef consumers would ever choose to purchase. God save Lidia bulls (and us all) from well-intentioned liberals.

You may want to live in a fantasy, but all animals raised for food suffer. Not only that, which is fairly significant, but that meat on your plate are babies; cows are slaughtered at 1.5, pigs @ 6 months and chicken @ 3 months. You've bought into the organic meat movement, another lie by the industry. Until we stop giving farm aid, cruelty will prevail.

I do just buy from WF and occasionally 1/4 cow from a farm that uses humane practices.
