Bullfighter in Spain Killed by Bull

nice.

these bulls have the best lives of any bulls in the world. a domesticated animal, cattle, don't forget.

#1, they are not castrated to become steers like 99.9% of male cattle.

#2, they rarely if ever see humans. they eat the best grass. They roam essentially free.

#3, then their last 20 minutes is a fight where they die, yes.

Compare that live to that of the rest of cattle in the world and which one sounds better?

Torture is never necessary.

All the bulls in the bull fights are killed. It is the whole point of the bull fight. They are tortured and killed in the ring then butchered and carved in the back where other bulls wait for the same fate. Sick disgusting "sport," sorry the man died but it was a risk he chose to take.
Bull fighting should be banned

Lived in Spain for years, went to several bullfights. Horrible "sport."

So why did you go more than once?

At the time, I had a different view. I saw it as a cultural event, an art.

People evolve, grow, and change their views.

I hate bullfighting. I had no idea that they speared the bulls (to kill them) until I went to Spain. I thought they just waved those capes around. This is animal torture dressed up as "tradition" and it's awful. When I was in Spain, I also learned that after a bullfighter is killed both the bull and its mother are killed because she (the cow) gave birth to a killer. Honestly, my experience with bullfighting tainted my whole view of Spain.

Not only was the bull killed, but so was its mother, in order to end its lineage.

The first bullfight I ever attended was in Spain in the late 70s. One of the picadores was killed. Bull caught him in his horns going left, threw him about 15 feet in the air, then stomped on him, until the bull was distracted off. We found out the next day in El Pais that the picador had died.

So I was fine with bullfighting after that. While the odds are clearly stacked against the bull, there is a real risk of death for the fighters.

Thanks for reminiscing, Papa.

The humans have a choice to be there. The bulls do not. Even if they aren't defenseless doesn't mean they should be tortured.

I read on here everyday about embracing culture and here it is, you don't like a different culture and you have to bash it because you don't like it.

hmmm interesting

Some injustices go beyond "culture" - slavery, rape, domestic abuse, etc. Even animal cruelty.

+100 I'll also add that I don't embrace child brides, genital mutilation, blood fiestas (another "great" Spanish tradition) and more.

Exactly! Embracing another culture doesn't mean you have to adopt/support the violent aspects of it.

It is no surprise that the bullfighter was killed. They step into that ring knowing the risk. Same thing with running with the bulls.

I do think it's barbaric to torture an animal for any reason. What is the point?

Yes, the man was killed and his wife watched it. That horrible animal killed her husband. In self defense.

Normally I would be fighting back tears at the though of a woman watching her husband die. They both went in there though knowing it was a very possible outcome. He didn't just happen across an angry bull and get killed. He provoked the bull until it killed him.

You know that the shrimp did not decide to be in the paella, right? Nor the rice. And don't get me started on the pepper flakes.

Ageist! I'd throw my AARP card at your little liberal head if I could find both it and you. And if its before 9pm when I go to bed.

Clueless. They spear the bull's neck to make it drop, so it is easier to drop the sword for a clean kill.
