I read on here everyday about embracing culture and here it is, you don't like a different culture and you have to bash it because you don't like it. hmmm interesting
Some injustices go beyond "culture" - slavery, rape, domestic abuse, etc. Even animal cruelty.
+100 I'll also add that I don't embrace child brides, genital mutilation, blood fiestas (another "great" Spanish tradition) and more.
Exactly! Embracing another culture doesn't mean you have to adopt/support the violent aspects of it.
+1 Now pass the paella!
Isn't paella usually made with seafood? Or rabbit? Or other meat? So it's ok to eat THOSE tortured animals, as long as they're on your plate, but not the bull fight? I am omnivorous, but eat very little meat and only if it comes from Whole Foods or a farmers market. If I could find a way to keep my iron up, I think I'd go vegetarian rather than risk eating an animal that lived a miserable life and died a terrible death.
I buy my beef from a local farmer who grass feeds and humanely kills the cow (it's called cow pooling). I also buy sustainable seafood and free range poultry/eggs. It's not perfect I'm sure, but at least I try to eat animals that live a good life and are raised in a way that doesn't harm the environment. Also, eating an animal provides nourishment, not entertainment from torture.
If it weren't for bullfighting, these bulls would never have lived at all. The end of bullfighting would mean the end of the Lidia breed of bull, as it is not the type of beef consumers would ever choose to purchase. God save Lidia bulls (and us all) from well-intentioned liberals.
