It's a tribute. Not a 'cultural center' reflecting the very religion who's zealots murdered those victims.

I guess we shouldn't have any Christian, Jewish, or Atheist cultural center anywhere in this country

How about the Jews build a temple right alongside a site where Palestinians are massacred. You'd welcome that I'm sure ... something tells me you'd be screaming 'occupation'

If you meant Israel, check. Not only do they build but they they also steal your land to build whatever they want on it , Geez , who knew?

And again, why are you here? Why did you or your family come to America? Are you actually in America or are you writing from outside the country?

There is no letter?

Thank you, but I already knew the definition of "intifada".

There is no threatening letter.

According to YOU. According to others, it was threatening. Why on earth do you feel that because YOU see something one way, that it's the truth? You cannot possibly be that vain!

There is an easy way to solve this dilemma: link to the letter and quote the threatening part. The recipient of the letter did not find it threatening. Why would you care about whether or not a bunch of Islamophobes who hate Muslims are claiming it is threatening? The letter didn't even involve them

The part where he wrote about what's happened before when people have drawn Mohammed. Quite the warning. So in other words, back down or risk being attacked. And we, as Americans, are supposed to ...what....back down right? Because....racism....for drawing an image. I mean, who can blame them for attacking. We DREW THEIR PROPHET.

A member of the NYPD stated a public safety concern and you consider it a threat? As I said, the recipient of the letter did not find it threatening. Why would you?

Because it's quite clear that he knows exactly how 'his people' would act in such a situation and used that threat of violence to kill a protest that would show the Danish cartoons. Not only that, he then let a 'teach in' of sorts to convince the students that they were being racist and provocative.

He wrote:

(T)he potential of what might happen after they (the cartoons) are shown is something else that should be considered and not taken lightly.

(T)he repercussions that would take place outside of the university setting are potentially huge. All over the world Muslims have been coming together over this issue and in New York they would not hesitate in doing the same thing…. NYU has facilities all over the world and Muslims also live all over the world. At that point in time no one will be thinking about the objectivist club that is an OSA organization made up of ten or twenty students. Rather, at that time all people will be thinking about is New York University and the decision it made…" [Emphasis added]

The event took place, without the cartoons shown.

The Islamic Center held a teach-in which senior NYU officials attended, and the student group caved in and decided not to display the cartoons. In his thank letter to President Sexton, Latif wrote, presumably with a straight face, "You helped to teach them (NYU Muslim student) the importance of being proactive, rather then reactive."

This is not the same as expressing a 'public safety concern'. I would expect a member of the NYPD to support the students' rights to free speech REGARDLESS of the repercussions. Not to hold a damn 'teach in'.

OMG, Why do you care? I am not an Immigrant.

What's it like being Muslim? Well, it's hard to find a decent halal pizza place and occasionally there is a hashtag calling for your genocide...

They built a Jewish settlement on the site of the Deir Yassin massacre.

And they built a mosque on the site of the temple in Jerusalem. Ridiculous, right?

Yes, I can understand why you and your Islamophobe friends pissed your pants. That letter is terribly threatening. I can see why the recipient of the letter was appalled and immediately fired his staff member -- oh wait, he wasn't appalled, didn't feel threatened, and didn't fire the Imam.

Hey I just answered the question asked of me. Not sure how it helps defend the people opposing the Mosque in lower Manhattan.

Pissed my pants? It took one cop with a service revolver to kill two Islamic-sympathizing jihadist. Given plenty of average Americans are armed, I have no real fear. Behind every blade of grass, my friend....there is a reason why it's so easy to conquer and kill those that are disarmed.....

Bloomberg? Please! The man thought it was ok to take bagels away from the homeless because he couldn't determine the carb count. Progressives like him are spineless, and given the bagel example, clearly not that bright.

You might want to learn the other side of that story here:

http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/myths3/MFrefugees.html

I am familiar with that side, trust me. But even the Haganah condemned it, and the Jewish Agency apologized on behalf of the movement. So don't try to defend it.

I care because you see fit to disparage this country and it makes me wonder why you don't move to the country of your ancestors. Wouldn't you be as free there?

It's clear that there is some propaganda involved. And that needs to be acknowledged.

So you either do not live here in America, or you were born here. But if you were born here, then you would have said so outright.

So can anyone tell me how a First Amendment proponent can try to block a house of worship, of any religion, on private property? Even if you really, really, don't like the idea? Is there an exception to the First Amendment that I haven't heard of, one which makes Pam Geller something other than a hypocrite?

I'm all ears.

Because being patriotic means to agree with what every other American is doing
