SUV drivers are responsible for giving the president's daughter asthma

Anonymous
Yes you. SUVs are such contributors to Climate Change that we spent billions to get rid of them through our Cash for (polluting) Clunkers program.

Now it turns out you caused the Obama daughters' asthma!

Hope you are proud of your selfish actions!

You don't "knock out" asthma, Mr. President. Kids can outgrow it, but otherwise, it's not curable with "good health insurance." How stupid does he think people are?

I caught asthma from coal-powered steam engine trains.

My SUV is a hybrid.

"Causing" asthma and "triggering" asthma are two different things. My kid's asthma was likely caused by issues in pregnancy that lead him to be born at low birthweight with underdeveloped lungs, and reflux that caused him to aspirate and scar his lungs with stomach acid. His asthma is "triggered" by dust, sudden changes in temperature, smoke, and pollen. The article seems to be using those words as if they're interchangeable, which is ridiculous.

High quality health care can absolutely make a difference in addressing the causes of asthma. In my child's case, early identification and aggressive treatment of his reflux probably made a huge difference in the severity of his asthma.

Environmental changes can also make a huge difference in the prevalence and severity of asthma. There's a reason why asthma is so much more common in urban vs. rural environments.

Wow, his coment was that pollution can trigger asthma attacks. The article twists this into "global warming caused my daughters asthma" and then you tag on suv's.

You're either stupid illiterates or liars. Help me out and tell me which.

Can second hand smoke trigger asthma?

It's the Daily Caller, very similar to WorldNutDaily.
Isn't that twit Tucker Carlson in charge of it?

It can cause asthma. Parents who smoke increase the likelihood than their infants will develop asthma. It can also trigger asthma attacks.

Yes. And the author of that "article" mistook "teeming" for "teaming."

The President smokes like a chimney. I wonder if he has considered that he is the most likely cause of the asthma.

This is his exact comment:

“What I can relate to is the fear a parent has, when your 4-year-old daughter comes up to you and says, ‘Daddy, I’m having trouble breathing.’ The fright you feel is terrible,” the president said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday.
“And if we can make sure that our responses to the environment are reducing those incidents, that's something that I think every parent would wish for.”

It ignores the fact that lots of natural things trigger asthma that one can't control, such as pollen. One of the major triggers of asthma are respiratory infections, which spread around day care like wildfire. In fact, they can be causative, i.e. R.S.V caught at an early age of infancy can sensitize the airway and cause asthma issues. Does he plan to close down day cares?

Very good point. My daughter's pulmonologist asked us first thing if we smoked. It's on the clothing, etc.

You're arguing against fighting air pollution? Bizarre.

Not to detract from all of the good things he has done, but personal responsibility has never been his forte.
