We all give back to our communities a lot and help people in need either through our careers or voluntarily. Does that mean we have souls and will be saved if we're wrong!!!

No. You have to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in order to be saved and be granted access to the Kingdom of Heaven. You are a sinner, for we are all sinners. Repent.

And this is why people hate Christians. Even makes me want to burn you on the stake a little bit.

And the persecution of Christians continues. What a hateful thing to say. God loves you. Why don't you love Him back?

Burn me at the stake? Wow. I guess I'll turn the other cheek. But I hope you find the Good News and some joy and grace in your life, for you sound like you're not a good person.

To which cheek are you referring?

What a ridiculous question.

Each time I drive by a graveyard, I hold my breath b/c I don't want my soul stolen.

Anonymous wrote:By definition atheists logically don't believe they have a soul and that everything in the world , including themselves is of no universal significance whatsoever. In the big picture, their feelings, dignity and opinions are no more significant than an ant fart.

Any "reasoning" they construct to assign value to their existence is a more hilarious religion than any they reject.

That's not what being an atheist is. An atheist is someone who believes there is no god. Period.

So by what measure is an atheist feelings, dignity, or existence more valuable than a rock which will be around long after the atheist is dust .

I think that would depend on the individual, wouldn't it? It sounds like you find comfort and guidance in having some sort of defined rubric. Not everyone needs that.

That's called worshiping your feelings. Many do that. That belief is shaken terribly on the deathbed. There is also no logical reason an atheist should morally condemn another that would murder them if that gave the murderer meaning in life.

Nonsense! Behavior that harms others is easily condemned. Your right to fulfillment in life stops where others' right to be free from intentional harm starts. You don't get to take your bliss out of someone else's hide. Your right is not greater than someone else's right to live.

I can understand why you're religious, though. It's easier to follow rules than use logic.

ha! NP here. The sad thing is here that Ms. Christian honestly doesn't see how hateful her words are, she cloaks them in the love of God, and to her there's one and only way to love God, to get into heave, to save your "soul." I'm full of grace and love - and I'm an atheist. I've been dead too, and I can tell you, no one gives a shit about this whole "soul" question there - no one gives a shit about anything, so let's not be so worried about our sins and haven, let's just be nice to each other huh?

^^ Christ said " what is good? No one is good except the father ."

Christians do not believe they are good. They believe they are forgiven and saved by grace.

So an empty hell, or no hell at all?

I don't believe in hell at all. Of all religious tenets, the concept of hell as a place is the one that should be outright rejected. There is no physical hell. It's a scare tactic and and it serves to make us fear death.

And you know that how? You've there and came back?

I know because people who were raised without fear of hell do not have this fear. It is taught to children and to adults who are "seeking" something.

No, my friend, you do not know! That is your belief, you have no proof or evidence for this. Your opinion is one in hundredths....

How do you know there's a god?

That's your belief, yes? You have no proof or evidence for this, correct? Your opinion is one in hundredths, right?

My children are good.

I don't need a god to tell me that I'm wrong in thinking that.

My children are good and kind and loving.

BS. Children are self centered . When is the last time they gave their brand new toys to a poor kid?

You cannot believe in a god if you don't know the answer to this question. Actually, maybe that's why you're in a religion. Hmm....

Why are you attacking the poster's children? What is wrong with you? Have some decency

Actually, Jesus said that none are good except God. The Son (Jesus) is also God, and also good. If He had said none were good except the Father, He would have been denying His own divinity, which he instead affirmed.

NP but I will bite. There are lots of different interpretations of Christianity. Is that not apparent to you? Views on Christianity are about as wide as you can make them. I would say basic tenet is only that you believe that Jesus Christ was the son of god and that you basically strive to follow the teachings of Christ as best you understand them. What those teachings are is open to interpretation. I personally believe that it is just to try to be a good person, try to forgive, try to be kind. I don't take the central message as one of salvation if I believe because to me trying to be more Christ-like in ones actions is much more important that objectively expressing my beliefs or judging those that don't believe. I am supposed to love those people too.

------

Yes. This.
-------

If you've broken one commandment you have a debt you can't pay back . Humans situation is so dire, God sent his son to be tortured and killed to absorb the justice required to whitewash us and make us cohabit able with pure and just love in heaven.

That is Christianity .

-------
Incidentally, I also don't believe in original sin so I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. I am not sure this was actually a serious post but if it was, this is not what Chrisitanity means to me by a long shot.

--------

It sounds like it could be an atheist enjoying pointing out the most grisly beliefs of Christianity, doesn't it? Substitutionary atonement is a basic Christian belief, though, as is original sin.

Actually, atheists are less than nothing since they waste resources and produce fecal matter. A rock is much cleaner and harmonious with the universe.

You could say the same for believers. wasting resources and producing fecal matter are characteristics of all animals, irrespective of their religious beliefs. I suppose souls in heaven don't have to worry about these things, but there's nothing in the bible about it, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see

No such a thing in heaven according to the Islamic belief. The prophet SAW said:

‘’..They will not urinate, excrete, blow their noses nor, spit. Their combs will be (made) of Gold and they will sweat musk’’ (Muslim)

The man replied ’Oh Muhammad, Where will they excrete after that (after eating/drinking)?’. The prophet SAW replied ‘They will sweat and their sweat will be musk’. (Ahmad)

Well, that settles it for Muslims, but it doesn't apply to Christians, It's my understanding that souls -- which are what goes to heaven, are entirely different from bodies and don't do need to eat or excrete. However, both Jesus and Mary ascended bodily into heaven, so I don't know that the deal is for them -- maybe the muslim way -- but you never hear anything about it
