I'm so confused. I think it's safe to say that any human being traveling 105 mph on the Beltway should be ticketed at the very least. I can't imagine how race enters into the equation. |
Exactly. But there is always some stupid PC white person out there who wants to scream racist anytime the perpetrator happens to be black. |
Given that you have no way of knowing the race of the person who made the racism allegation, I think your blanket statement is just as ignorant. Let's please return this thread to its original topic. |
Why is PG County providing Ford Edges to councilmembers?! |
I am guessing that she does this frequently, how does an SUV/crossover handle at 105mph? |
105 on the beltway is INSANITY. There is no way she should have gotten off with just a warning. |
I agree with this. I drive around for my job, and don't have a car issued to me. It's ridiculous. I'm assuming they also get their insurance paid for? Does she pay her own gas at least? |
Wouldn't you say it's time she surrendered her keys to PG county ? |
While I hate to admit it, I was stopped once for speeding. I was doing almost 85 in a 55 zone in Maryland.
In my defense, it was at the bottom of a hill, at the top of the hill the speed limit had been 65, and I'd only been doing less than 75 at that point. I didn't realize how fast I was going. My car shakes at about 75, but I was driving a rental car. Anyway, the police offer let me off with a warning, and I'm a nobody. Perhaps it's Maryland policy to let first-time speeders off with a warning. It's an effective strategy for people who are not scofflaws. I have not been willing to go even 10 above the speed limit in Maryland ever since. |
Ok. I haven't been in the area for a while, but will someone please tell me how the hell you go 105 on the beltway? My memory mostly includes endless bumper to bumper traffic? |
I beleive the officer said that he paced her at 105 before she pulled over but a "pacing" speed can't be used for an official ticket so he gave her what ticket he could which was unsafe lane changing. So was it really "preferential treatment" or a hamstrung officer.
But also this isn't her first speeding ticket. One thing I remember from driving a company vehicle was that any traffic violation would get the car pulled. At the very least, P.G. County needs to take the the T-Bird away. |
the entitled attitude of elected officials in PG is disgustingly old news. read this: "Prince George's Taxpayers Pick Up Officials' Personal Tabs" http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/19/AR2006111901228.html
i live in this county and think this situation stinks out loud, as did leslie johnson stuffing her bra and jack & leslie both crying injustice when the evidence was so obviously against them, and leslie refusing to step down from her council position. what the hell is wrong with these people? |
This is what the Post reports this morning. It also reports that police sources said that the council member was very vocal in repeatedly identifying herself as a council member. Whether what the officer did was favoratism or not, the council member clearly hoped to get a pass. You would think that a politician normally would have been embarassed to admit that he/she was an elected official. This is just another example of the entitlement mentality among some PG politicians -- cars, raises during budget cuts, expectations of favoratism and pay to play. Fortunately, the new county executive is trying to clean up the culture. |
Apparently she has had 5 tickets for excessive speed since 2009. (Heard it on WTOP.) |
but do you KNOW WHO SHE IS??? she is a COUNCIL MEMBER!!! |
