I beleive the officer said that he paced her at 105 before she pulled over but a "pacing" speed can't be used for an official ticket so he gave her what ticket he could which was unsafe lane changing. So was it really "preferential treatment" or a hamstrung officer. But also this isn't her first speeding ticket. One thing I remember from driving a company vehicle was that any traffic violation would get the car pulled. At the very least, P.G. County needs to take the the T-Bird away.
This is what the Post reports this morning. It also reports that police sources said that the council member was very vocal in repeatedly identifying herself as a council member. Whether what the officer did was favoratism or not, the council member clearly hoped to get a pass. You would think that a politician normally would have been embarassed to admit that he/she was an elected official. This is just another example of the entitlement mentality among some PG politicians -- cars, raises during budget cuts, expectations of favoratism and pay to play. Fortunately, the new county executive is trying to clean up the culture.
