PG County council member is fined for unsafe lane change but let off with a warning for 105 mph on the beltway. Jeez and I get fined going 12mph over at the speed trap at the bottom of a hill. When DH was 20 over on the Dulles Access it involved court, lawyers, classes, and $2000. 105 mph? So that's 50 mph over the speed limit. On the beltway? And off with a warning. |
Entitled. Laws are different depending on who you are and who you know. Get used to it. |
I agree, OP. That's special treatment, and it's outrageous. |
Sure but that's a fairly egregious violation and a low level politician. I think more heat will and should befall the police department for looking the other way on this one. |
She was in PG County in or near an area that she represents, I believe on the Branch Avenue exit area at noon. She played the council card and the cop rolled out the red carpet. Now I want to know the other perks these members are getting. |
That's PG County for you. That place is lawless and its citizens seem to use the Beltway like a Nascar race track. |
Any PG county residents on DCUM? What do you think about your council member and police department? |
Remember even after their arrests that much of PG's political class didn't want to criticize Jack and Leslie Johnson because of all of their "service to the community." Anyone who drives 105 mph on the Beltway or elsewhere should be cuffed along side of the road and be undergoing a full body cavity search. |
105 is completely insane. I wouldn't fault cops for looking the other way at 80, maybe even 85. But 105? really, really dangerous. |
If I lived there I'd write this council member a letter... |
Ok, the cavity search is optional. But, really, what would happen to the typical driver being chased by police at 105 mph around this town? And the beltway is as opposite from wide open highway as you can get. |
Does anyone know what kind of car she drives? Our clunker car would be shaking like a leaf on a tree after 75 mph. Our luxury sedan sends off really annoyingly loud warning alarms when the car goes above 85 mph (don't ask me how I know this). |
It was reported that she was in the county issued SUV. |
Right. Because you wouldn't drive like that in your own car. |
