Letting your kids drink at home?

Where are you? I could invite you over to my basement if all of the grumpy parents wouldn't mind! Or maybe I should call your parents first and let them know that I will be having alcohol there!

And I agree with this assessment...

Prefer good weed and condoms - extra large.

I got the weed! I was saving it for my kids end of the year party but we could probably go ahead and smoke a doobie...but I prefer the pull out method. Is that something negotiable?

Damn you people...you are turning me into a troll! I didn't want to start acting like this but you people are maddening!!!!

I will continue to raise my kids as I see fit but I was interested in some real people having a real discussion about this. The Euro philosophy does work well. In my extensive European travels I have seen a lower incidence of kids going crazy with alcohol and drugs like American kids do...and I do blame boring white puritanical people for making it seem so mysterious because of the way we hide drugs alcohol and sex. To those who just keep saying this mindset is "creepy" I encourage you to elaborate...that's the point right? Discussion?

dedicated, I could not agree more. It is not as if my wife and I are buying the kids poor-quality alcohol at a corner shop. We only shop at Whole Foods, and try to buy organic wines/liquor/beer in order to stay on the healthy side. Also, teens have to learn their limits, and we would rather have them safe at home than driving drunk or going to wild beer parties.

That is HIGHlarious! That's right, just stay on the healthy side of underage drinking by insisting on only the top shelf stuff. How do these kids get home? Do you drive them? Do you call their parents and say "you kid is wasted and needs a ride home, AGAIN?" or just hand them their car keys. Utterly irresponsible.

Our oldest is going to an Ivy League school in the fall, one is in advanced AP classes in high school, and our youngest wants to pursue a career in the military as an officer. I think they're pretty good kids, no different from anyone else's.

THAT'S IT! You are just too too sophisticated for us Philistines.

The kids stay over, no one leaves until the next day and we make sure that they are OK when they do...now currently they don't have car keys as my kids and their friends are only 14 going on 15 but when that becomes an issue we will make sure that they are OK to drive in the morning (or to be more likely the early afternoon). Again my kids are not binge drinking and beer bonging or whatever they call it. They are kicking back and playing music and having some beers. They are watching sports or movies and having fun. I bet at most my 14 year olds have drank 4 or 5 beers in a night...not the kind of thing people are exactly dying off of....

SERIOUSLY! I mean on the other hand if a kid does something good. Let em know about it. Pat em on the back and make sure they are rewarded somehow. I'm not one of those parents that just punishes their kids...I reward the hell out of those 2 monsters. When they deserve it...which is actually most of the time.
