It wasn't shortsighted, it was long sighted, thinking of a long lasting framework that would apply to all presidents with a baseline level of integrity and/or patriotism along with the obligatory narcissism, ambition, and self-centeredness that the role entails. I have the greatest respect for the Supreme Court, I am a lawyer. I see their familiarity, and lack of familiarity, with people and their nature every day. I also see that Supreme Court opinions are not static, they revisit issues and refine rulings, sometimes significantly. |
Not static and never perfect in the eyes of all but collectively, SCOTUS members have always been loyal to the Constitution and the American people. There are institutions that deserve some questioning of their integrity but the SCOTUS isn't one of them. |
