Elrich and the council- "here- we'll just pay you 200k anyway, don't worry. No need to get a real job"

Now Elrich is saying that they haven’t actually picked anyone for the position but I don’t buy it.

“When asked whether he was picking someone versus a more formal application process, Elrich said: “Anytime county executives appoint people, they pretty much pick who they’re appointing. But we haven’t done anything yet … hopefully, the [County] Council thinks it’s a worthwhile position.””

I literally saw tweets of emails from Elrich or his staff asking about the status of CRAIG RICE'S APPOINTMENT.

He is picked. 100%

I agree. They actually linked to the Montgomery Perspective article by Adam Pagnucco that includes that in this article. I think Elrich is playing around with words here when we all know it’s already been determined.

Thank you… I saw some didn’t have anonymous but didn’t know how to make that happen. I figured they were mods. I’ll look into it. Maybe that will prevent people from crying wolf about me posting as well

You should just sign up for a DCUM account so your name always appears and there’s no confusion.

Curious about these rankings. Link?

Here’s one from Center for Public Integrity from 2015

But dude you have only one party in this state/county for 50 years - absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This passed today with a 9-2 vote.

Glass and Luedtke were the only two to vote against.

Thanks you two for pushing back against this example of cronyism and waste in the face of a historically large tax increase.

Shame on the rest of County Council for passing it.

Good for for them.

Not to downplay Luedtke's vote but it's to be expected, her constituents are more likely to pay attention to you Jason.

But Glass's vote is telling. He knows this deal is dirty and is voting against it even though there is no upside for him politically.

I’m not sure I have that much power that she cares much what I think but thanks I guess?

I am really disappointed in Craig. Or disappointed in myself for thinking he cared about good governance.

The rest of them, meh.

I dont really blame Craig Rice for taking a cushy job they created for him- but I absolutely blame the council for this blatant cronyism to stick it to the voters, after term limits were approved overwhelmingly.

I think she cares what her constituents think, not what you think
