Canada Truck Convoy, what to think about it?

Anonymous
The covidiocy is lifting mask mandates because, internally, democrats are terrified of a US corollary to the truckers. To understand what’s happening in Canada, you have to look on Twitter or talk to a Canadian. The protests are huge and involve Canadians of all stripes who are tired of the unscientific nonsense regime.

I'm concerned that a planned American version of the convoy will cause big trouble for the United States later this year, especially if American truckers entrench themselves somewhere and have to be forcibly or violently removed by law enforcement, the National Guard, or a combination of both. These are exactly the type of "martyrs" the far right craves to justify further political violence.

Guaranteed law enforcement and the National Guard will not remove them.

Maybe the government should just stop shooting people and then the right wouldn't have martyrs right? Send in some social workers to deal with the truckers, isn't that how we deal with trouble makers now?

Bunch of jerks to block up every road and honk horns 24/7. Can you imagine what it would be like to have a truck horn blasting for hours at a time right outside of your home? That’s not protesting, that’s assault. Truckers taking part in this are just throwing a tantrum.

And so far, the law is siding with the fact that horn honking is not actually a form of protest. Neither is making an encampment on public lands.

People speaking up and taking action against their government is fascism?

Some people merely read 1984; you live it.

In the minds of many of these people, anyone that disagrees with them is a Russian, fascist, awful person, etc... They literally can not conceive that someone could disagree with them for legitimate reasons. They are always the heroes in their own heads, because considering the alternative is too much for them.

If truckers disrupt D.C. like they're currently disrupting Ottawa, you better believe that law enforcement or the National Guard will be called in.

Either way, it ends badly.

And it won’t be a good look for Biden and his puppet masters

I guess you imagine yourself to be the Twitter version of the Wolverines?

This is striking me as similar to the NUM (National Union of Mineworkers) coal strikes in the 70s and 80s UK. You had (possibly, although not as much as feared) Soviets in the background egging on the most Militant of tendencies within the labo(u)r unions and Labour, you had Thatcherites aching to cut everyone off at the knees, you had Liberals wondering which side to support, and people who just wanted to get on with their lives.

Of course, with automated trucks, this may end about as well as the the latter, at which NUM began to dwindle into irrelevancy.

I will admit it's kind of offputting to see people who'd run over BLM protesters blocking the roadways cheer on these guys, and to see folks who turned a blind eye to rioters within the BLM movement declare that Someone should just get rid of the protesters.

I suspect any parallel action in the US will end up getting dragged down into QAnon untruth and/or random grifters, and working conditions/wages will get left in the dust. (Such was the case with the CHAZ in Seattle).

Of course, you've got the BNSF railroad strike lurking in the background. That one seems to be a more standard left-wing strike as opposed to what will likely emerge as a mix of right-wing culture war grievances, left-wing wage/condition grievances, and anti-vax paranoia.

Remember - there are grifters lurking in any cause and there are those just itching for a fight lurking in the support base of any cause.
