Why are Dems going all in on Mayor Pete?

Oh my. I guess “your fellow Dems” = all Democrats, everywhere.

Yet, according to you, one Politico puff piece - clearly placed by PR - is the “entire Democratic machine,” or whatever equally bonkers statement you made.

[Narrator]: Obama was a good President with successful policies.

Obama's failures: poor GFC response, continued AFG war, continued Gitmo, continued surveillance state, tech bro-douches, a messed-up Democratic Party, AND DJT's Presidency. What were you saying, PP?

I mean, even if I go along with your premise (and ignore healthcare reform, adding a ton of jobs, improving the Dow Jones quite a bit, not being a big old racist, having a positive vision of America, appointing a couple of solid Supreme Court Justices, etc.) - you're mostly blaming him for Republican stuff here. So maybe your anger is displaced?

This thread should be retitled
“Why are republicans so afraid of Mayor Pete?”

Not really. Because they aren't. IT's the Democrats who are afraid of Biden. Namely, Biden dying. Or going too obviously senile.

Puhleez. How many threads do the RWNJ’s posting here need to start about him?
I guess I get it. He is a fantastic communicator.

On the contrary. It seems Democrats on this thread are entirely triggered by the idea of Mayor Pete running for president. Probably because they know how badly he would lose. But there are some mighty defensive Dems here, insisting there's no push for Pete.

You do realize there are multiple posters here, right?

Exactly. I'm all for a Mayor Pete presidential candidacy!

The OP of this thread is very clearly a liberal. Your narrative is so tired.

A few more articles about Buttigieg as the next presidential candidate in waiting. Both in left and right wing publications.

So there is some traction, despite what some people want to claim.

Don't worry. It'll probably go nowhere. Biden will likely run again because he's the only hope against Trump. And he'll lose. Badly probably.

Part of the reason so many of us like Pete (I'm not saying that many people are 'all in') is because he gets what America and the Democratic Party needs. "A Letter from Flyover Country" was his opening salvo into national politics five years ago:

I am a Democrat because I believe in protecting freedom, fairness, families, and the future.

First, freedom — not just the thin idea of freedom from overregulation but the freedom to choose our destinies, not to mention our spouses. Freedom from things like crushing medical costs and student debt, from dishonest banking practices and anything else that affects the most basic of freedoms: freedom to live a life of our choosing.

Next, fairness, in the sense Democrats have always cared about deeply, fairness in access to voting and to public accommodations, fairness in the face of discrimination and privilege, fairness in our systems of distributing financial and political power. Donald Trump got elected because, in his twisted way, he correctly asserted that there is great unfairness in our economy and our democracy.

Next, family: because we are made happy or unhappy mostly by what happens in our families, because you can’t raise a family on less than an adequate wage, because shaping our families is a personal right, and because you can’t raise a family at all if your government doesn’t have your back.

And finally, the future: because the national security of our people, and the habitability of our land, almost totally depend on those we elect, their judgment and wisdom and willingness to pay attention to facts and evidence when making decisions that will have consequences for centuries.

I'm fine with Biden. But I'd say heart disease will get Trump before he has the chance to lose another election.

I think folks see/hope for a gay Obama.

If Pete in 2024/8 focuses on a message for all, that treats people as aspiring to do better on their own talents and skills, and shaping a government that lets people do that, as opposed to patiently waiting for government to solve all their problems, or hoping government beats down all the wrong-thinkers, or that elections can be rioted against if they come out the wrong way.

The alternative is more navel gazing about how racist we all are, defunding the police, forgiving criminals, letting everyone in, and forcing trans women onto HS sports teams.

That doesn't work with Whites, and it seems actual POC as opposed to Twitter POC don't seem to like it much either, if we take 2020 and 2021's election results in mind.

Because the alternative, to me, is letting the crowds of 1/6 take over. But that isn't enough for many people. Fulminating about how dumn they all are won't exactly work, either. So we have to focus on the legitimate grievances and concerns of the people.

I like when Republicans, like OP and the newly signed in gooper PP, advertise they have absolutely zero grasp on reality.
