Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a separate, ticketed event. The Magic Kingdom closes at 7, and then it is 'open' to the Christmas Party guests. The cost is somewhere between $45-$55 for adults and $40-50 for children.

What's special about it?
-The castle is lit up in white lights
-Two showings of the Christmas parade
-Holiday shows
-Snow on mainstreet
-Complimentary treats (hot chocolate, cookies, apples, apple juice) throughout park.
-Rides are open to enjoy as well

Dates this year are: November ember 10, 11, 14, 16, 20, 21, 30
December 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 19
May is a great time to go. I agree, the weather earlier is better.

You can get pretty good deals inside of Disney on Suites at Saratoga Springs. They have the setup that you mentioned.
Otherwise, the Sheraton sounds nice. If you don't want to rent a car - I would suggest staying on property.

For character meals, there are travel agents out there who do this for your for free. Why should you get up
and make the calls?
We always go this time of year and we love it.
Just be aware that if you go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that it is really crowded at the Holiday Shows, especially the early ones. It may be a little rough on your little one.

I have really enjoyed the Christmas Party in year's past, especially the parade - the wooden soldiers are the best.
