I hope you get better soon, LJ! Fingers crossed everything is ok and you can get to the doc tomorrow!
I think it isn't an issue for most women at all, but those working on a glycemic index diet would be aware of these issues (like I said, my mom is diabetic so I'm aware of these things....she spikes if she eats pineapple, especially alone). I try to eat more sugary fruits with a protein - I LOVE pineapple and cottage cheese, and CC is a great source of protein for me.

I wouldn't worry about this at all unless your doctor specifically mentioned sugar/glycemic index food issues to you...you'd probably have issues before pregnancy with these things as it is.
yes, but some have a higher sugar content and raise you blood sugar mroe than others (apples are better than pineapple, for example). But this is really for the insulin issues that some PCOS patients have. My mom is diabetic and she is supposed to limit certain higher-sugar fruits.
I've heard that if you have PCOS, the fruits higher in sugar should be avoided because they can cause a blood sugar spike. That's all I've ever heard about it.

Or the other African-American one, who is usually in the ultrasound room with the ultrasound tech, who I think is doing Boot Camp and is really chatty, and is active in her church and volunteer groups?

The other one - is her name Mia? She's SO sweet. She gave my DH and me a huge hug today after our ultrasound. She's like a mom, and really explains things to you in the ultrasound and also remembers you.
The nurse had no idea - I'd imagine if he goes elsewhere, the internet would say, right? Maybe he just retired? The nurses really didn't know.
We liked him, too - esp my DH.
All is OK with us - HB of 176 measuring 6W4D which is right on target (egg retrieval was 1 Feb), so I'm thinking I'll be released today. I have an OB appointment on the 19th, just waiting for my beta but I'm sure with a strong HB like that it's fine.

Thanks all for your support - I'll keep on on threads here to answer any questions people have since I know this place has been a tremendous resource for me as I started my journey (feels like forever ago!)

ETA: Katherine did NOT yet have the baby - according to Andrea, eviction starts tomorrow if is doesn't happen sooner.
Confirmed he's gone.
I asked the nurse in the ultrasound room, she said they were SHOCKED. They were told he'd be on leave, then last Thursday were told he wasn't returning. They don't know why, all she said was she hoped everything was OK with him.
She said they are looking for a new doctor - a new on is supposed to start later this spring, but they need someone before that.
Greetings, all!
We're on track - HB was 176 today with my "McDonnell Special" (vaginal ultrasound), measuring 6W4D which is EXACTLY where I am (1 Feb egg retrieval).
I expect to be released by the RE today, and made a preemptive appointment at GW just since they usually have a wait - I'm seeing Dr Metz since she was highly recommended here.

Researching day care is depressing - $2000 for bright horizons! That's a no on our end. Our jobs don't have any day care sponsorships, and even with my DH in the military (reserves), the bases are very inconvenient for getting to work. Hopefully a nanny share will work and be a little cheaper, or at least more flexibile. But MAN how do people pay for this stuff?!?!
I will check out the recommendations...thanks! I get so uninspired when it comes to bringing food to work! Lunch and snacks. Total snoozefest right now, but luckily I am not really hungry at all (for now).
I go in for monitoring Tuesday morning, I'll ask if they can share what the situation is, and repost.

I'd be very worried about having only one doctor - I don't want Dr F to "burn out" - he is a fantastic doctor, handled my freak out after ER well, and called me every day with updates on my embryos. He's easy to talk to and very interested in seeing patients do well (even if they can be conservative in many cases)
I love how DCUMers, if they don't like the topic of something, reply anyway. Gotta love anonymous forums.

Anyway, I was looking for inspiration because, trust me, eating the same thing every day gets boring if I'm going to stay on a healthy track during the pregnancy as much as I can, avoiding boredom is the only way to do it. And I know there are others like me.

I'll check out the book, 15:02 - thanks!
...the 2011 stats are pretty crappy! But, I don't think that has anything to do with Dr Gindoff - someone needs to find out and post! I don't feel comfortable asking my nurse!

wow - this is a shock if he's gone. He was our consult, but I've only interacted with Dr Franfurter since.

I hope, if he's gone, they find someone else soon since they're a very busy office and I don't want their practice to suffer. They're a great office.
I'm not obsessing - I've never been pregnant, and want to try to do the best I can given my current fitness restrictions. I'm not sick during the day, so I'd like to fuel myself in efforts to have a healthier pregnancy/child. Plus, I love to cook. I'd rather be prepared than eat crap all day. I also don't have a nutritionist (or even OB yet).

thanks others for their ideas - it's helpful.
