I know Dr. Dayal left last year, which is a huge loss to the practice, he was wonderful and competent.
But I was going to the website to see if they've replaced her to advise a friend who is considering GW, and the ONLY doctor listed is Dr. Frankfurter. I know that Melissa left too (no loss there). WHAT is going on there? Dr. Gindoff was the director. Despite negative comments about his bedside manner here, I really liked him and found him compassionate, honest and optimistic. |
hmm - I was a patient there up until the end of last year and actually corresponded with Gindoff by email at GWU about three weeks ago. |
I heard he was on some kind of leave, but I don't know any details and it was only second-hand. |
I just checked the website and sure enough he is not there. There 2011 SART results that just got released were atrocious! |

2010 was really bad too. I know two women who got pregnant there last year (2012) but I had two failed cycles (one failed, one ectopic) and one cancelled.
I can't point to anything they did wrong except the wrong protocol in the first cycle, but I also find it hard to justify the disparity in the stats between other clinics and GW. The numbers are small, but the last time that went in their favor was 2009 stats, which were on a par with Shady Grove's. With small numbers, the variables in your patient population can skew the stats, though you'd think they would skew in favor of them sometimes, and not just one year (2009) |
wow - this is a shock if he's gone. He was our consult, but I've only interacted with Dr Franfurter since.
I hope, if he's gone, they find someone else soon since they're a very busy office and I don't want their practice to suffer. They're a great office. |
This issue of the disparities in the stats has been discussed ad nauseum. GW is known to take so-called hard cases (esp. AMA) that other practices won't. Their results reflect that philosophy. In 2011 I was one of their "failures" because we cancelled after PGD showed major flaws in all my crappy old eggs. We got pg there with a DE in 2012 though. |
...the 2011 stats are pretty crappy! But, I don't think that has anything to do with Dr Gindoff - someone needs to find out and post! I don't feel comfortable asking my nurse!
|
I had an appointment there scheduled for last Friday. They called me the day before and cancelled, saying that Frankfurter had surgeries. Then they offered to reschedule for APRIL! Totally unprofessional and I had been waiting awhile to get that first appointment. |
interestingly in my category (42+) GW has the best %. I agree that their numbers are going to be worse as they'll take anyone. SG canceled my cycle due to low response, while Frankfurter has attempted retrieval/transfer 3 times which is ruining his stats. One of the reasons I overlooked the 2010 Sart figures...

I wouldn't worry about their stats. They take cases that others might refuse. I think Dr. Gindoff is on leave. I'd love to hear what is going on and whether Dr. Gindoff will be returning. I thought he was terrific. |
I go in for monitoring Tuesday morning, I'll ask if they can share what the situation is, and repost.
I'd be very worried about having only one doctor - I don't want Dr F to "burn out" - he is a fantastic doctor, handled my freak out after ER well, and called me every day with updates on my embryos. He's easy to talk to and very interested in seeing patients do well (even if they can be conservative in many cases) |
I am worried about Dr. F too, or "the D.O.G.," as I refer to him. He is really a cool and knowledgeable doc.

Wow, I just had Dr. Gindoff (and Frankfurter) this past fall for some FETs. Both were great but I really thought Dr. G. was super-kind. When my final one did not work, he called me personally to leave a message saying how sorry he was and how if I ever needed anything else, etc. etc., to please let him know. We were beyond-ready to move to adoption -- just were trying to give the remaining frozen embryos one last shot so we could have closure and move on -- but I still really appreciated the kind gesture.
PS I originally had Dayal back in the day when we were doing our fresh cycles, so I was really disappointed to hear that she had left when we went back to do the FETs. |
