What about Grinnell's Preliminary Application?

Thoughts on advantages / disadvantages?
Anonymous wrote:I can't imagine submitting any IQ test to college admissions, but especially not WISC-III, given that WISC 5 is the current test and it's a test for children.

I can't imagine why on earth any institute especially one like Harvard would need IQ test?
Noticed Harvard mentions its "not required but considered"

Can these test be submitted?

What other college / Univ consider these tests?

Are you sure about Case Western? The common app still shows 11/1 as deadline.

Here's the email:

Dear (my kid),
My admission team and I received quite a few applications, but I'm still very interested in reviewing your Common App or Coalition with Scoir if you have not yet applied.

In case you need it, I'm giving you a grace day to submit your application to Case Western Reserve. You can still apply non-binding Early Action if you're considering several schools or choose our Early Decision I option if you know that Case Western Reserve is the right college experience for you.

You now have until midnight tonight to apply and receive an admission decision in mid- to late December.

Case Western Reserve University has a test-optional policy, so you are not required to submit test scores. Plus, supplemental materials (Secondary School Report, transcript[s] and recommendations) can be sent to us after you submit your application.

I'm confident you can submit your application by midnight tonight.

Please click here to apply now to Case Western Reserve with your Common App. If you'd prefer, you can choose to submit Coalition with Scoir.

I'm looking forward to reviewing your application, (kid).

Sincerely,

Bob

Wow, so desperate! Next few years are going to be tough for colleges not at the top of the food chain.

Because of the demographic cliff, or other reasons?

Demographics are part of it, but school didn’t hit its numbers. No need to send an email to kids that applied on time.

Parents need to understand, colleges are first and foremost businesses. Your kid is just a number.

100%. Case Western one of those schools desperate to hang onto whatever ranking they have. They just want more applications is all. $$$$$

But they waived the Application Fee.. so, no $$$$

I'm the one who posted the CWRU letter. There was no fee waiver. Had there been, I probably would have told my kid to apply.

Dear DD,

Today is the day—the deadline for Early Action (EA) and Early Decision I (ED) applications to Case Western Reserve University!

Submit your Common App or Coalition with Scoir application today. All other supporting materials can come later. Your application fee has been waived, so it’s free for you to apply!

Submit your EA or ED application by midnight and you’ll hear back from us with an admission decision in December.
Apply:
Common App ►

Apply:
Coalition with Scoir ►

We want to make it easy for you to apply
The only thing that is due tonight is your application. Your supporting materials, including teacher and counselor recommendations, transcripts and such, can come at a later date. And, since we’re test optional, we don’t need your test scores right away (or at all, if you choose to apply as a test-optional candidate).

As a reminder, ED is a binding application path. If you know that CWRU is your top choice, I encourage you to apply ED. Apply EA if you’re considering several options for next year.

I look forward to reviewing your application and learning more about you!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 216.368.4450 or admission@case.edu.
Best regards,

Bob

This is what we got.

We didn't apply EA due to some goof up.
