My kid applied to a school yesterday, before the midnight deadline. This morning around 10:00 a.m., kid receives an email that the deadline has been extended another 6 days. I can understand extending the deadline before the deadline passed but why are they doing it afterwards? |
To get more applications |
1) They encountered some kind of technical issue that they couldn't resolve in time - so to be fair gives everyone more time. 2) didn't get the yield they were expecting for EA and decided to move the deadline. |
99% sure it’s 2 |
Can you share the school? |
I would agree with some sort of technical issue. It could even be localized, but they don’t want to shut anyone out. |
Cornell does this every year. |
Not the OP but my daughter received such an email from RPI |
My DC got a similar email from College of Wooster |
My son received this from a bunch today: Fordham, Case Western, Renssalaer, Denison, Wooster, Rochester Inst of Tech. |
My kid applied to Cornell ED. Didn’t get any extension email. |
|
? Denison was already Nov. 15. |
My DD only received from Fordham.
Are you sure about Case Western? The common app still shows 11/1 as deadline. |
Here's the email: Dear (my kid), My admission team and I received quite a few applications, but I'm still very interested in reviewing your Common App or Coalition with Scoir if you have not yet applied. In case you need it, I'm giving you a grace day to submit your application to Case Western Reserve. You can still apply non-binding Early Action if you're considering several schools or choose our Early Decision I option if you know that Case Western Reserve is the right college experience for you. You now have until midnight tonight to apply and receive an admission decision in mid- to late December. Case Western Reserve University has a test-optional policy, so you are not required to submit test scores. Plus, supplemental materials (Secondary School Report, transcript[s] and recommendations) can be sent to us after you submit your application. I'm confident you can submit your application by midnight tonight. Please click here to apply now to Case Western Reserve with your Common App. If you'd prefer, you can choose to submit Coalition with Scoir. I'm looking forward to reviewing your application, (kid). Sincerely, Bob Robert R. McCullough Dean of Undergraduate Admission Case Western Reserve University 10900 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44106 |
