This may help you- I just learned about this new paint- Mythic Paint that is safe for people, animals and the environment... and no bad smell and low VOC's! This seems to be exactly what is needed for a child-friendly space. The colors choices look great- I'm trying to decide which one to paint a room in our place.

5th Street Ace, 1055 5th Street NW in the CityVista carries Mythis Paint- AND are locally owned, same people who own Logan Hardware, Tenley Town Ace. and Glover Park Hardware store.
I was reading some other sites on line.... I am on bedrest right now.... and came across discussions of Babies R Us allowing people to exchange their BPA bottles from Avent and Dr. Browns for BPA free ones. Some say you need a receipt, some say you don't. It may not be seamless from what I read, but it sounds better than nothing. Nothing was on Babies R Us website (as mentioned on other sites) but I was interested to see if anyone in the area had tried this. If so, were you successful? Suggestions.

I haven't tried either because I too am expecting, however, I did see that Ameda does now sell BPA free supplies for the pump, see http://www.mothersboutique.com/bpafreeacc.html. Good luck.
I've heard that Mythic Paint is a great option "non-toxic, ultra low odor paint." the website says. A friend used it for her nursery and loved it- we had already painted when I found out about this. It is carried at 5th Street Ace in NW DC near the new convention center.
