Exchange your BPA bottles at Babies R Us- Know anything about this?

I was reading some other sites on line.... I am on bedrest right now.... and came across discussions of Babies R Us allowing people to exchange their BPA bottles from Avent and Dr. Browns for BPA free ones. Some say you need a receipt, some say you don't. It may not be seamless from what I read, but it sounds better than nothing. Nothing was on Babies R Us website (as mentioned on other sites) but I was interested to see if anyone in the area had tried this. If so, were you successful? Suggestions.

I returned my Advent bottles last week to BRU without a receipt or any proof of purchase. You will receive $1 credit each for the cap, bottle, nipple and ring for a total of about $4 (I think it was $3.99 or something) for a complete bottle. They say you can only use this credit to buy new bottles however they gave me store credit for the difference (I bought less new bottles than I returned) and also gave me a gift receipt for the new bottles so theoretically - I could return those and receive additional store credit to purchase something other than bottles. I was surprised given how strict BRU usually is about returning things but this worked!

It depends on the store....I think it's up to the manager.

I returned mine to the Silver Spring store on Sunday and it was easy. The bottle has to be complete with all parts including the caps. I actually bought some caps from Buy Buy Baby because 4 caps were $5, but 1 bottle was worth more, so it was worthwhile.

I got full sales price for each bottle. I did not have the receipt. It was $12.99 for sets of three Avent bottles of the same size and $4.99 for each single because that's what they sell for, plus I had one random Ventaire they gave me credit for also....all added up to around $57. I got two packs of the Dr. Brown's BPA free and a pack of small Born Free bottles. They were really out of the Dr. Browns. They are only taking regular Avent (Tempo is not considered unsafe), clear Dr. Browns and Playtex Ventaire.

Call the store you'd go to ahead of time to ask both about their particular policy and if there are any of the bottle you want. I'd imagine you could exchange unopened ones later.

I exchanged 3 avent bottles with no receipt for medela bottles, including the nipples/caps.

Well, I'd assume that's because the Medela bottles need the nipples and caps, but you can't get a Born Free bottle (which comes with the nipple and the cap) and then ADDITIONAL nipples too.

OMG--the mass hysteria of BPA.

I returned my Dr Browns Bottles to the Babies R US near Baileys Cross Roads.

They accepted all of my bottles without receipt - some were in original backaging -some not. I received a $4 credit per bottle and received a store credit.

Maybe they have gotten the word out now, because I found the process to be really easy. I returned bottles (two different times) at Baby's R Us at Bailey's Crossroads. You get $12.99 for every 3 bottles and $4.99 for individuals. I exchanged for Born Free bottle packs and also some nipples.

I returned my Avent bottles to the Babies R Us in Chantilly. Similar to other posters... They bunched the bottles into groups of 3, and I received $12.99 per "3-pack", and I think $4.99 for individuals. This was used bottles, no receipts or packaging. They would only let me exchange them for other bottles or sippy cups. Avent just came out with BPA-free bottles, so i bought a bunch in anticipation of having another baby eventually (my son is 2 and no longer uses a bottle), but I don't see why I couldn't just go back later and return them for store credit and then buy whatever I want.
