Not from my perspective, except boys' coaching slate should come out this weekend. I think it was a good move to have one, and it sounds like there will be another one this spring as more details and information have come to light. There simply is a lot of questions and details still to be finalized (e.g. fee structure, uniform costs [reviewing bids currently]) and typical things out of their control, just like with many others, (e.g. which fields they will get permits for for use etc.), but at least stating that is better than no communication at all.

It looks like boys ID session dates are out
http://www.fairfaxbrave.org/boys-ecnl/boys-id-sessions

I'm curious to see who the boy's coaching staff will be. Any word with what's going on with the current bryc boy's coaches?
CCL is pretty much done with these departures. Very few NOVA clubs (5) remaining to do anything meaningful with EDP. At this point only remaining options would be EDP or NCSL unless they can still make their way into ECNL-R.

New names on the slate, how has the partnership been received with VYS parents

Also curious to see as most of the commentary seems to be from bryc families. Found the coaching slate on their Facebook page and was curious to what club they were part of prior to BRAVE. I may be wrong but thought MV was at VYS. Others not familiar with.
soccer_dc wrote:Consolidation makes sense. ECNL clubs like VDA need a bigger pipeline of players. And Herndon needs a better pathway for their top players. One question is how big an issue will the distance be. Doesn't VDA train in Gainesville and Woodbridge? If you are a top player at Herndon wouldn't you be looking at closer ECNL options?

Distance being an issue was exactly my thought behind it. Can't see way too many making the trip out there. At least it presents a pipeline for those Herndon players that could be considering staying instead of fully leaving the club at the earlier ages.

1: going with ECNL badge (mainly VYS) and experiencing degraded team performance in ECNL for 2022-2023 season?
-- Maybe the BRAVE team will survive ECNL?
-- what if BRAVE got boot out? My boy settling down at VYS.

2: going with NVU and playing EDP, same shit, and MOst likely also degrade team performance
-- are those coaches trustable, one years or years in the future?
-- Comfortable at EDP may not / may necessarily fit my boy?

in All, BRYS boys travel is gone. I can image all boys go to VYS and SYC/Burke.

What have other families said about this situation? Are they moving/staying? The leagues don't make the players. It's about the environment they are in if they are able to develop. If they have done so far under coaching staff it's likely they will continue developing just with another name and league. The big question is what the majority of players will do and if enough will follow for teams to maintain their standard of play. I haven't seen many BRYC teams play outside of the one in my DC's age group but from what I see in tournament results, I feel that they are always a division too high and living off of the BRYC name. Maybe this could be a good change for everyone to rebrand themselves.

I'm not sure how this will change the boys side. The BRYC boys teams are better than the VYS boys teams. This partnership was done for the bryc girls teams. Although unless more talent goes to this partnership, the ECNL teams will continue to struggle.

I believe mazda1120 is referring to the wrench NVUFC and co may throw into things since Welsh fam is double dipping.

If the boys coaches leave for NVUFC I don’t see them getting ECNL? What league would NVUFC play in and what’s in it for the boys? Sounds like a mess.

I'm confused, too. Why are the boys coaches leaving? And if they are, why would parents let their kids go to a club that plays below ECNL? Assuming NVUFC doesn't or won't play in ECNL/MLSNext? I mean, they can if they love their coach that much. I can't see a huge swath of BRYC boys taking over other ECNL or MLSNext clubs in town? Im really confused about why there is such an uproar? It is shortsighted. Isn't club ball about the kids and players growth not the coaches? And if they believe the boys are really good, all the BRYC kids will keep their spots and maybe gain more talent.I don't get why the boys coaches (and some parents) are fighting this. Someone explain it to us beside saying a board is the problem, which is total distraction.

No word has been made about whether or not new blood is being brought into the coaching ranks. If ECNL is a partnership with VYS, would assume VYS gets a voting say on whether these BW, DW, CJ, and AF are all retained. Or, they bring in some of their own to work with some less than affable personalities in CJ and BW, who presumably envisioned this coming and were smart enough to set a separate anchor down with NVUFC. New blood would be good for BRYC, as things are not headed in a healthy direction.

Are those coaches not liked at BRYC? Is it confirmed that they are leaving? I assume that if they leave then BRAVE will be led by and essentially be VYS with a few coaches on the girls side from the former BRYC. If they are leaving for NVUFC it won't be easy getting into a top league without the player pool and track record as NVUFC. The only thing they have going for them is the experience/connection/relationships with those leagues but even that is not usually not enough. I would think that the boys coaches may not like that they have to report to new folks or be accountable in certain areas that they didn't have to be before. Too much is really up in the air until something actually happens.

Fairfax BRAVE is only ECNL level teams, 1 boys team and 1 girls team U13 and up. 12 teams total.

BRYC and VYS each field separate teams to play in ECNL-RL, and otherwise run their house and travel programs as they did before the partnership.

It is my understanding that BRYC only had ECNL prior to this merger and VYS ECNL-R. With this merger BRAVE will be ECNL and BRYC and VYS each have their own ECNL-R team. Is that correct? Where is BRYC going to get enough players to also field a second team? Do they have enough players in the "composite" or VYS in their second team to jump and fill the empty spots left in their Regional team or to the new one of BRYC? The top team will definitely be good but their second teams may be so-so at best where players not making BRAVE will possibly just leave. I think it's good for BRAVE but the underlying programs could take a hit.

Sounds like everyone is leaving VYSA and heading toward US Club soccer in Virginia. NPL will be making its way back to Virginia in some capacity. 16-19 age groups will have a unique promotion and relegation platform. What clubs will be merging together next? This might be the only way to get into the RL unless you know someone as it’s never about your performance on the field. We all know that certain clubs won’t deserve the ECNL status but it’s only a matter of time until we have another new league. MLS Next, DPL, or the Im pissed off league.

Merger? Wouldn't it really just go: CCL folds, ECNL absorbs clubs?

Seems like ECNL has been picking off CCL clubs to join the ECNL RL one by one.

Which clubs have gone so far?

None so far this year but I think it's too early to make announcements at this time with an entire Spring season still to play. Last year there were a few. Arlington/Loudoun, Fredericksburg, Legacy, Beach FC, Skyline.

Non-profits and profits don't really merge easily. FCV did have an agreement with Loudoun to send their girls to FCV and boys to Loudoun, but we saw how long/well that agreement lasted.

It just feels like every year STJFCV is looking someone new to merge with. It always seems that it's for the benefit of the girls program which rightfully so is very well recognized. Do they still have a boys program? Does it seem that there is a goal to grow it or has it been given up on? All I ever hear about is the girls side and DA so not even sure what league their boys teams play in.

I have no idea about FCV. But just for the sake of argument why does a club have to have boys and girls programs? Why not focus on just boys or just girls and get good at that? Niche businesses can be very successful and sometimes trying to be good at everything makes you good at nothing.

Nothing wrong with it and I agree with you. Although they have had a boys program and seem to just make moves for the girls side. They could just let go of one to focus on the other but they seem to carry both without doing much for the other. Any FCV parent on the boys side here that could say what their strategy/focus is for that side of the program?

What league would you recommend then? St James courts are nicer but competition is meh.
Has anyone else heard any update on this? Just wondering if it's some sort of partnership or an actual merger of both leagues.

Just goes to show how much of the activity on this board was just trolls and idiots. There was only a small amount of actual soccer related talk. I hope that changes now.

Yes I agree. Funny that all it took was creating usernames which still doesn’t identify the specific person but it does negate the trolls having multiple conversations with themselves to create drama.

And a very poor site selection by Berhalter, Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Tomorrow's forecast has it at 3* at kickoff and below 0* at full time.

Although it may seem like it's not a good choice for the quality of the game overall, it may help the US a bit since Honduras will likely have the most difficulty dealing with the weather.
