CCL/ECNL Merger

Anonymous
CCL and ECNL Regional League will be merging for the Fall 2022 season. Who will get in? Who will be left out is still up in the air. Sounds like everyone is leaving VYSA and heading toward US Club soccer in Virginia. NPL will be making its way back to Virginia in some capacity. 16-19 age groups will have a unique promotion and relegation platform. What clubs will be merging together next? This might be the only way to get into the RL unless you know someone as it’s never about your performance on the field. We all know that certain clubs won’t deserve the ECNL status but it’s only a matter of time until we have another new league. MLS Next, DPL, or the Im pissed off league.

Merger? Wouldn't it really just go: CCL folds, ECNL absorbs clubs?

CCL will have “lifetime” board members and ECNL will have “lifetime” board members. It truly should be a CCL folding into ECNL but it’s not. Executives have to make their money and don’t worry….us parents will pay.

CCL and ECNL-r both are subpar on the girls side. Yet both travel too much for the inconsistent level of play. It is interesting how the ECNL is more and more boy side focused. Must be more money and prestige on that side.

On the girls side, EDP is typically better than CCL. FCGB only has girls teams.

Sorry. Wrong thread about FCGB.

ECNL-r travels too much? The two clubs farthest away from each other is probably Great Falls and Stafford. Maybe an hour apart. And those are the farthest two clubs. If you think a game an hour away for travel soccer is too much....I don't know what to say.

Curious as to your insight to this rumor? If true it would be great as it would give majority of clubs the opportunity to play each other more often instead of having to wait for a tournament. Based on the current clubs they should be able to create a North and South division avoiding long travel for those who think it's an issue. I assume North vs South would get to play in showcase tournaments similar to what CCL does now. I like the promotion/relegation for the older age groups if true.

They already have a north and south. Last year there were just a couple of crossover games on one weekend at the start of the season. But otherwise Great Falls to Stafford was the furthest. It should only get better with the addition of some local CCL teams.

Nice way of saying that CCL is disappearing.

Are both leagues based out of and/or founded in Virginia? Does this just consolidate the executive leadership not to mention the leagues? Is this the domino that fell once Skyline/SOCA moved?
