Okay-- thanks for the snark. Seriously though, if you don't have anything helpful to contrbute, don't bother.

It's a big shower - 60 invitations for a local TV news anchor. SHE wants the G'Town cupcakes, NOT me-- and she is the expectant mom so she gets what she wants. High profile guest list-- and I am happy to seek out a nice cupcake set up with silver cupcake stands or some such other ostentatious display. I am a busy mom of two toddlers. I am not going to run around looking for a circular table, linens, table decor and stands.

Again-- helpful replies are much appreciated.
I have to admit, I am kind of miffed at Georgetown Cupcake.

I am planning a baby shower and I called about catering-- which of course they do, but they don't have anyone to come do table setup.

Okay, that's fine, I get that-- not their focus. However, they also do NOT have a list of recommended vendors that do table set-up. I don't know about you, but I find this absolutely inconceivable considering that their cupcakes are among the most sought after desserts for events around this city.

Venting done. Anyone know of someone who can come set up the Georgetown cupcakes? Will need table linens, stands, etc.
Hello. I just wanted to highly recommend Chikitaki http://www.chikitaki.com/ for kids parties. I discovered this AMAZING group when we were invited to one of my 2year old's classmates parties.

I felt like I always read these boards and see a LOT of entertainers suggested, but had never seen Chikitaki mentioned and I wondered if it was because maybe they were just more well known in the latino community, so I wanted to share because they rock! First they come in and do face painting for the kids and then do this engaging and interactive show where your child's favorite characters (in my son's case, Piccachu, Diego and Sponge Bob) come out to celebrate. The whole show can be done in English or Spanish.

Here is a link to our party photo gallery: http://chikitaki.com/andrew.html

I tried to do a search before posting this and found nothing. Anyone have any recommendations about quality piano lesson is Silver Spring? I found an instructor named Patty Lai off of Bel Pre. If you have any info on her including pricing, that'd be great. Thanks!
Anyone know a good place thats within 2 hours to take little kids to sled and just enjoy snow? maybe tubing or something. artificial snow or real
I DID create an entry on this site's calendar but I just wanted to add that, with Susannah's permission, I created a Washington chapter of Baby Loves Disco Facebook group.

If you're on Facebook, please join the group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=36811812095

This way we can upload photos and keep in touch after the dance.

And I look forward to seeing everyone on November 8th and the Rock and Roll Hotel!!!
Thanks for the suggestion on Ivymount. We just think he needs some special attention-- at the very least an assessment by a professional in that area. One thing I LOVE about the river school is that speech pathologists are on staff and assess and work with each and every student. If there are any (even the slightest) speech impediment or anything, it is immediately corrected with individualized therapy plans. The school itself is a top tier school, academically rigorous school-- but kids who need it get just a little extra integrated into their daily program... However, its not really the place for kids with Autism and such-- for some reason they just integrate the specialist on staff to address kids individual learning needs... I think were a child to be diagnosed with a bigger issue like autism, they'd probably refer you to another school-- not totally sure on that, but aside from the kids there with cochlear implants I didn't see one kid with a major learning disability.

Point is- I can't get him in there, so I wanted something similar. I don't think he has asperger's or autism, he just needs someone working with him on talking more often that me and hubby. Someone who knows what they're doing.
Our 19 month old is not talking and we are looking for daycares/nursery schools/programs-- anything that is geared towards early intervention.

We know about the River School amd their amazing program for speech/hearing challenged kids but they have no room this fall. Can anyone make any suggestions as to other schools or programs that may help my DS?

We'll drive prety much anywhere within reason to get him some assistance, but we're in MOGO (thats's Montgomery County.)
Since delivering my second child, I have had on and off back pain in my lower back to the left (my left) of my spine. Recently it has gotten bad-- so bad that it shoots and throbs into my left hip and thigh. I went to the doctor, had xrays-- which were all negative and now he's sent me to a physiotherapist. The appointment is this monday, but on Friday, the pain got unbearable... I called my PCP and he WOULD NOT prescribe me anything. Can anyone recommend a PCP who is not gun shy on prescribing pain medication?
Does anyone have a 3 year old in any type of Martial Arts program? If so how is it working out and where do you do it?
Does anyone know anything about this school? I find it incredibly frustrating that its so hard to get quality info about DC's Charter Schools. I checked out Two Rivers website and it looks like the curriculum is solid, but then you never know how well what is written is actually executed in the classroom. My husband says any loon or group of loons can go found a charter school. But I thought I'd ask here since we get such a cross section of parents.
Hey, I was thinking about taking my 2 DS's to the Guppy Gala tonight, sans my husband-- who will be there but will be working with his company. Is this a good idea? What is the Guppy Gala like? Do the activities make it hard to handle 2 kids alone? One who will want to run and get into everything and the other who needs to be held or propped up in a stroller?
