Thanks! Not sure why I can’t find those divisions on the EDP website.

I couldn't find them either. Someone had to send them to me at the start of the season. EDP website is notoriously bad.

now now now- its not the websites fault you didnt know what you were looking for.

Its clearly right there on the front page- in the first HUGE box that says "US YOUTH SOCCER CONFERENCES MANAGED BY EDP" and then clearly on the drop down menu as well.

Seems like its the website's fault to me. Why wouldn't it be under EDP League Schedules? Who would think the top divisions of EDP would be under a totally different section?

When people say EDP Div 1, what are they talking about? U13 and above starts at D3 for south Atlantic premier. Are people talking about EDP soccer in NJ? EDP doesn’t seem any better than ncsl in the dc area. What am I missing?

Reading this article, it really doesn't seem like a big deal and not sure why a youth soccer parent would care.
Well, there goes Señor Anonymous' rumor that CCL and ECNL RL are merging. A few teams did abandon ship to go over to ECNL RL, but no merger. Looks like this league will be a step below ECNL RL. At least Viva la Revolution has found a league. Good for them.

Of course this is irrelevant to MLSNext kids playing in public school but I think there is a possibility to do both (play MLSNext and in high school) without violating any MLSNext rules.

There is a waiver process for this situation, but I don’t think this scenario is too common, especially in this area.

According to MLS Next rules and regulations, players are NOT allowed to play High School soccer.

If Alexandria can do the right thing and follow MLS Next rules why can't SYC do the same?

Give SYC the benefit of the doubt -- maybe they don't know that one of their players is also playing for his HS team in violation of the rules.

I'd report it to SYC. I'd also report it to MLS Next. It's unfair and poor sportsmanship to flout the rules of the league.

This is not one or two MLS Next players in HS teams. The kids know them and talk about it. This is not a HS problem but, once again, SYC breaking the rules.

What rule is SYC breaking?

Did you not read any of the posts in this thread? MLSNext players aren't allowed to play high school soccer.

That would be players breaking the rules, not the club.

But, even if they are playing, why do you care?

That's like saying Russia isn't responsible for it's doping athletes. Clubs have the responsibility of enforcing this rule. If they turn a blind eye, they can get in trouble with the league.

Bad analogy. Doping is against Olympic and lost competitive rules.

MLSNext players playing HS soccer is not a violation of HS soccer rules.

It is a violation of MLSNext competition rules. So if you want to play HS soccer, do so where the rules permit, such as ECNL.

Looks like SYC knows and is trying to do something about it:

That is one of the rules of MLSNext, so if you want to play HS soccer, play on an ECNL team (SYC is a part of VA Union) or a team in a league that allows it.

Wait, the BIG announcement is a social media tournament? Social media fail if you ask me. The Valor/Mclean announcement was bigger.
Agree with previous posters. Adding a third club is good in theory for VDA, but I don't see many Herndon families commuting an hour or two with traffic 4 days a week to haymarket or woodbridge. VDA tried something similar with Vienna a few years ago and that didn't last long because of the distance and that was when they were special and had the full DA. There are several other ECNL/MLSnext clubs that are closer for Herndon families. Plus, didn't Herndon lose a lot of their top kids and coaches due to the total futbol split?
What does your son do outside of team practices/games? Does he play soccer at recess or after school with neighborhood kids? Does he do any outside clinics? Does he love soccer and willing to put in extra work? If the answers to these questions are yes, stick with the higher team. Training with and versing more skilled kids will make him better. Once you drop down, it isn't impossible, but it is very hard to climb back up. If the answers to these questions are no, drop down to the lower team so he has more fun.
Where will NVU even practice? Seems silly to leave an ECNL team for EDP or who knows what. How good could the coaches be if all the BRYC teams don't do well.

Taking a quick look at the 2008/U14 girls divisions, ...

The bottom three finishers from the fall have moved to Divison 2 from Division 1 (Leesburg FC Thunder, Great Falls 08 United, and and PWSI Courage Classic). Those teams have been replaced by the two top finishers from Division 2 (Alexandria White and Vienna YS Black). SYC's 2009 Academy also appears in U14 D1, after seemingly playing in CCL and EDP last season as U13.

The two bottom finishers in D2 (CSA Courange and PPA Green) move from Division 2 to Division 3. The two top finishers from D3 (MRM Rush Vikings and Lee-Mount Vernon Patriots-NCSL) move up to D2.

The only other change for D3 is the lack of "CALV LESC."

Spring schedules for USYS EDP and "vanilla" EDP are also out.

The other leagues (ECNL/GA/ENCL RL/CCL) remain intact from the fall.

When do they usually release schedules? (Ncsl)

Schedule release for this spring is on their website: Friday, March 11th.
